Forum > 2012 bullpen questions?
Well, our bullpen was better than Baltimore's, and arguably the best in all MLB. There isn't room for everyone on a Roster.
Also, keep in mind, Chris Davis, Pedro Strop, and Tommy Hunter were all traded to Baltimore for pieces which we found valuable last year, such as Koji.

Was koji even on our playoff roster the yr we traded for him and how much of the season did he miss this yr? IMO, watching the games, he sure seemed like a different pitcher then his stats said he was and now he's gone. No draft pick or anything. I sure wish we had Chris Davis this yr playing 1b.

I'd also question what you're using to say we had a better bullpen then Baltimore?

2012 baltimore bullpen ERA = 3.00, 3rd in AL. texas 6th at 3.42. (baltimore also threw 100 more innings)
OPS against, texas and baltimore were about even (.668/.666), whip, about even (tex 1.19, bal 1.21)
so you could say texas' bullpen was better than baltimore's if you really wanted to, but certainly not best in all MLB. tampa bay and oakland were far better in most categories.

Three pitchers from the Rangers of 26 Orioles who recorded innings pitched. With TH starting, total innings pitched for the three Rangers was 266. The Innings pitched for their staff were 1,483. Not even close to "their entire bullpen sans closer". Tommy Hunter with an ERA of 5.45 and a losing record of 7-8....Love these troll posts!!!!!!!

It still hurts me that we traded Strop. That kid has talent.

I agree with Romeo, but I think we lost him on waivers.

I am looking for thoughts re our bullpen when compared to Baltimore last year, Which turned out to be one of the tops in baseball. Except for their "closer", wasn't it made up entirely of ex-rangers only a year removed? I'm wondering how this goes IMO unnoticed. Is it another bad move by JD for sending these guys away, Wash another example of not knowing how to use players, or Maddox maybe not being the next great pitching coach that IMO he isn't.
