Forum > Any chance to get Kubel and Upton?

Trade Nelson for bullpen help Upton in RF Murphy in LF and Kubel DHing, plus you add another lefty.

December 31, 2012 at 5:33 PM | Unregistered Commenterefit

ARZ won't trade both of them, and why don't you throw out a proposal of what you think it would take to get both? Cruz for "bullpen help". Like who?

December 31, 2012 at 5:36 PM | Unregistered CommenterNorthTex

Getting tired of these dumb ideas.

December 31, 2012 at 5:37 PM | Unregistered Commentermmurphf

why wouldn't they trade both, they have parra eaton and ross.

December 31, 2012 at 5:57 PM | Unregistered Commenterefit

Why not get all of their 5 outfielders? And yeah trade Cruz for Rodney while you're at it.

December 31, 2012 at 6:10 PM | Unregistered Commenter007

?? this isn't a ludicrous idea, i've seen far worse on here. Towers has already started he is willing to trade either and they have an influx of outfielders so whynot? to get Upton all you need to do is give them Andrus, for them to trade Kubel i'm sure throwing in Olt and Buckel gets the job done.

December 31, 2012 at 7:17 PM | Unregistered Commenterefit

So you trade 2 years of Andrus for 3 years of Upton, then trade one the the top prospects in baseball (Olt) PLUS Buckel, for Jason Kubel?

No, no, no.

I've seen far worse ideas on here, too, but that's not a get-out-of-jail free card for adding on to the dumbassary. Better not to say anything at all.

December 31, 2012 at 7:22 PM | Unregistered Commentereric reining

Kubel adds absolutely nothing to the Rangers that they can not get out of Murphy or Cruz, with much worse defense then they would provide. And know that their is major consideration to moving Cruz to dh because of his defense as slowed, and Kubel can not even come close to Cruz with his glove. That does not say much for kubel's defense, might as well sign Carlos Lee (who actually may not be bad bat to add ) to play left, better then Kubel, and poor Carlos would lose a foot race to a Molina brother. Upton is a completely different story. Will the Rangers trust Profar backed by little Leury to take over at short, believe they will not extend Elvis, a Boras client:; and therefore, do the often mentioned and talked about, may be even to being an overboard subject, pull the Andrus for Upton deal. This deal, and only this deal makes sense for both sides, with may be a few second tier prospects names on both sides tossed in to balance out the trade. The Diamondbacks could then go out and challenge the Giants and Dodgers with a known major league all-star level shortstop, where they have surplus in the outfield. And on the Rangers side, have surplus at short. Ingredients for a win-win trade. BiIG QUESTION then becomes IS PROFAR READY FOR FULL TIME MLB SHORT STOP PLAY?

well thats why it was posted as a question. but thanks yall all for being douchebags about it.

E Fit please calm down. Youre allowed to have your own opinion and people are allowed to disagree

It was mostly Eric being the douchebag.

Eric needs to check his meds, ignore him.

It's almost like you'd rather people only say something if they're going to placate your fantasy world. That's not really what I'm about. The longer these types of threads go, the dumber we all get, and the further away from reality we get.

You cannot take off fair trades in real life. You have to (a) see how it looks from the Rangers' end, and (b) what it's like in the shoes of Team X_.

January 1, 2013 at 3:04 PM | Unregistered Commentereric reining

So in other words, if you make a proposed trade that's completely different from eric's version of reality, then you're dumb, and so is anyone else that agrees with you.

Care to make yourself look any more like a condescending asshole?

January 1, 2013 at 3:21 PM | Unregistered CommenterSilverSlugger21

@SilverSlugger

I don't necessarily agree with how Eric responded, but he's right this was dumb. Eric might be a bit condescending at times, but that doesn't make him wrong.

Hey, why not offer Cruz, Olt, and Holland to Philly for Hamels and Halladay? I mean how awesome would that be?

That is a dumb idea and we see far too much of this and it's easy to tell who a really knows what they're talking about. If you post dumb ideas like these expect to get called on it.

Basically.

Contrary to your closed-off opinion of me, there's a wide chasm between what trades we would like to see, and those that are actually reasonable. If 29 other teams decided to say "Hey, screw our own chances, what can we do to make the Rangers better?" then yeah, some of these stupid threads wouldn't be so stupid anymore.

If you're proposing we acquire TT and Cargo, then give me some realistic proposals. Otherwise, you're probably going to get some flack from posters. It's a simple concept.

Some people need to learn how to rspond to others better when you disagree with what they are posting. I guarantee some of you that act like an ass on here constantly don't act like that in face to face meetings. If you did you probably wouldn't be left in a physical condition that would allow you to even be able to get on here to post.

January 1, 2013 at 5:40 PM | Unregistered CommenterNorthTex

Lol at indirect Internet tough guy threats.

I think we could all use some baseball. Thank you Davey. Happy New Year.

You may have seen too many movies.

People disagree in real life all the time. I disagree with people in real life all the time. That's why we engage in discussions. For instance, if someone proposed the ridiculousness that this thread entails, in real life, I would tell them the Rockies would never do that. If they asked why not, I'd tell them why not, and they could go forward with their perspective from there.

I have a hard time believing someone would want to fight me over some stupid baseball conversation, because, probably like most of you, I've had about a million of them in my life and it's never came to blows.

How does 'yall all' translate into Eric and not every post that was not in total agreement with Efit, including mine. Total agreement is not the point of a forum, really quite the opposite. But to respond with derogates accomplishes nothing toward contributing to the forum, and redirects the postings into personal diatribes. Disagreeing is a major focus of forums, that then lead to a discussion over the pros and cons of that forum's subject. Eric could use more diplomatic phrasing, I even got on his case over calling Mitch Williams a derogate without full understanding of the reasons behind his statements, but to shoot down his opinions and knowledge over a given forum subject simply because it is his, accomplishes absolutely nothing. Many a forum seem to have a life of their own, and what the original Post was may not have any thing related to it many posts later. Go back and check out a post that goes on for at least 1 page, and notice how it can take a direction all its own. The bottom line to that is there are very few poor post, and those hardly have a responder.

Seems to me those who rail so heavily against Eric are just as bad or worse about derailing threads and disregarding options just because they are his.

January 1, 2013 at 8:50 PM | Unregistered CommenterRomeo212000

Wow. i was gonna propose a trade but am now intimidated.
I kinda like the Cruz, Olt, Holland To Phillies for Hamels and Halladay.
We know they need a 3b.

@terry

I'll assume you're joking and laugh at your joke.

January 1, 2013 at 9:07 PM | Unregistered CommenterRomeo212000

Actually i don't think the Rangers would do that--
-they evidently plan to win the pennant without paying for it.

Im sure they would like to dump the Cruz contract but they act like they wouldnt pay a Hamels or a Halladay--
much less both?
