Gonna happen????

Can you provide a link or are you just gonna make thread titles that lead people to believe there's actually substance to the thread until they open them?

The Rangers will not sign Kyle Lohse unless they get him on a one-year deal worth $2.5 million.

I bet they sign him for much more!!!

Lohse is a Boras client , will command minimally a 3 year + $40m contract, and will cost a draft choice. So expect Lohse to sign back with St. Louis, or the Dodgers or Red Sox, who with previous deals are less concerned about loss of draft choice for an aging high profile starter. If it is the Dodgers, then the Rangers could do their 'due diligence' and check out the acquisition of Capuano, Harang, Lilly or better Josh Beckett.

Kyle Lohse might be the best pitcher left on the market. The Texas Rangers made a serious run at Zack Greinke, were ready to give Josh Hamilton the money he was wanting, and came up short. They’ve came out and said they want a bat and an arm and there’s good ones on the market. [...]

Maybe something more credible than just speculation......

December 30, 2012 at 6:50 PM | Unregistered CommenterRomeo212000

Seems to me as they do not want to give up any of the top prospects they have so might as well give up a pick and spend some of that money they have been holding on to.

Romeo where do you get all your info are you suppose to be a baseball genius or what? Is yours not speculation?

December 30, 2012 at 7:03 PM | Unregistered CommenterTDRanger

All that is, is an article speculating they might sign Lohse because he's the best FA pitcher available. Unless it appears on something like MLB trade rumors or something like that its just like any one of us speculating what might happen.

Lohse to TX? Not gonna happen.

Pitcher with lots of question marks.
Injury history is bothersome.
Performance history is iffy.
He's already 34.
You have to pay for him with his "career year" in 2012 being the one Boras wants you to project at top dollar for many years. But pre-2012, he was an average pitcher over his career, nothing special at all.

Big (bloated contract) money PLUS your top pick, for that? Not gonna happen.

NO

The Rangers, Jon Daniels, have said that they are probably done on the FA market this year. They do want a bat and an arm, but they are looking for those on the trade market.

Are you gay????

Loshe is a bum. He's probably the most overrated FA left on the market. Signing him would be fla out stupid considering he cost and draft pick comp tied to him.

Lilly and Beckett are broke arms. We have lots of kids who can cover the five hole guys. No more of this crazy talk please.

December 30, 2012 at 9:58 PM | Unregistered Commentermmurphf

Then what are we gonna do for pitcher???? ARM?????

December 31, 2012 at 1:21 PM | Unregistered CommenterTDRanger

Is he really that much better than Martin Perez? Possibly, but is he worth the significant difference in money and the loss of a very high draft pick? I think the answer is a resounding no!

Just because you missed out on your top targets doesn't mean you should automatically go after the next best guys. In our situation the next best guys are not as good as the guys we currently have on the roster, and they would cost a ton!
