Kinsler 1B
Andrus SS
Upton or Stanton RF
Beltre 3B
Cruz DH
AJ/Soto C
Murphy LF
Gentry/Martin CF
Profar 2B

Just got to figure a way to get Upton or Stanton without giving up Profar. Perez, Olt, Buckel, etc.? Would that get it done? Is that what we want? Would you do it?

You would have to give up Profar and at least 2 more high level prospects or a trade equal to what the Rangers got with Atlanta. 5 - 6 studs. Perez, Olt, Buckle, Grimm, and at least 2 A level minor upside talents.

To add to my post, I would rather wait and add when the trade deadline comes and the price for these type guys is cheeper. It would be a Brinks ransom to get Stanton during the winter. Arizona has 4 OFrs now and 2 rooks ready to step in. Play the waiting game with Upton. The season isn't won in April and May. Look at what Hamilton and the Rangers did last season. Now look at the A's. Now the A's did not make any major trade deadline decisions, but they stuck with their players and held their own and won the division.

With Upton, I'd rather see

Profar leading off
Ian in CF or LF
Cruz sitting/traded
Moreland with a role, platooned a righty bat that can play 1B, hitting 8
Upton in RF
Kinsler 5-6 hole
Murphy up in the order to 6-7
Catcher spot down to 9

With Stanton, we're a different team on offense. I'd happily wave goodbye to Profar + Olt + a P in return for Stanton. I think he'd hit 50 in BPiA.

CJ, Wash would never lead Profar off. He does not put pressure on a rookie. That being said, isn't it more amazing how the Angels rookie did leading off?

The idea is to have all of your decent speed guys back to back.

7 Murphy
8 Gentry/Martin
9 Profar
1 Kinsler
2 Andrus
3 Upton/Stanton
4 Beltre
5 Cruz
6 AJ/Soto

For Upton: Andrus. For Stanton: Andrus or Profar, Olt and Perez ( this suggested by MLB.TV).

I keep Profar's situation as "untouchable" He's core, as in Rangers "big future".
Darvish, though with more experience & older, is also "untouchable". Both core.
Really, is there anyone, including any "ACE", that you would trade YU for? NOT!
Stanton's a corner OF'r... Profar, a SWH SS, possible 5 Tool. Worth the wait 4me.

Agree, switch hitting SS whose floor will be making 5-6 all star games is core, along with Darvish. Package that Ozzie outlined is way too much, especially when Profar projects to be a perennial MVP candidate according to Keith Law. Still can't wrap my head around why we don't trade Elvis for Upton though. We maximize our lineup that way instead of moving Ian out of position where he will be avg or below. Maybe we are/were exploring locking Elvis up and will be more open once we realize that Boras won't let that happen at a reasonable figure. If talking Stanton, give them Elvis, Olt Perez +, but not Profar, which may mean Stanton isn't happening right now.
