Hypothetically, the trade proposed on MLB a week ago with slight alteration goes down: Stanton and Morrison for Profar, OLt, Grimm and Cruz (+$=his 2013 salary). ?? WOULD YOU then have the guts to acquiesce to Arizona's demand/wish to move UPTON for ANDRUSS (Diamondback view, easier to build around a ss then corner of) ? What could make this possible from a Ranger perspective is they have a third shortstop as ready as Jurickson is to play at MLB level. He even moved Profar overr to second in many Frisco's 2012 games. He may even be a better defensive shortstop then either, and shows enough bat to succeed at that level. So an up the middle defense of AJP/Soto behind the plate, up the middle: Kinsler and LEURY GARCIA, with, and this is the big one: LEOYNS MARTIN roaming center between Stanton and Upton. The corner infielders would then be Morrison and Beltre. This lineup could offensively match the Angels, especially when Martin and Garcia prove top choices: Martin cf- Kinsler 2b- Stanton lf / Beltre 3b - Upton rf - AJP c / two of the three Ms at 1b & DH- Garcia ss.

Why the hell would the Marlins want Cruz at any price? He's past 30 years old, he's expensive, and his performance has been on a downward spiral the last few years. I would just like to see the logic in the Marlins point of view in acquiring an outfielder a year away from FA.

MLBs rational was that Miami, as in sports community, would need a local homer hitting hero to root for if Giacarlo, mostly by his own wishes aka Albert Belle, if you remember him, is traded. Thinking is that: in Miami looks South as much as North, and someone from the Islands is near a local. To make this work, the Rangers were need to pick up Cruz'S salary. In Miami, after their sell-off need star power to draw more fans then the average AAA city. And currently, Cruz to a degree fits that bill. All this, as I posted, hypothetically, is driven primarily by Stanton too strongly demanding to be traded, and the Rangers, and the speed of JD decision-making, which may prove the stumbling block, promptly jump into the fire on this trade. But that was not the poser, which was WOULD YOU then have the guts to trade ANDRUS FOR UPTON and go with LEURY GARCIA at SS. The Rangers still have a SS that may prove better than all three in time, LUIS SARDINAS hopefully headed for High A/ AA IN 2013. If Cruz does not fit, then sub Murphy or drop the Morrison portion suggested by MLB-TV.

miami would take cruz because we would pay a chunk of his salary. In the short term they get power production and then they can trade him plus the salary forebearance to someone that needs cruz at the all star break or sooner for young talent. Looks like a trade that would offer upside for both teams. Stanton is likely to be a problem for miami if they don't do something with him. He already knows his stats are going to suffer there when contract time comes and he knows they are not going to win. what else is there to play for?

Could someone please tell me if this trade has gone through or not I have looked all over and can't find if the deal has been finalized or not, or this trade just bogus.
