Forum > AJ For 1 Year Reported by Rosenthal

“@Ken_Rosenthal: Sources: Pierzynski, #Rangers closing in on one-year contract. Deal will be pending a physical, not yet done.”

Eh, not that bad I guess. A 1 year deal is definitely good for the Rangers.

It fills a gaping hole. As much as I hate him I'm glad to have him.

Yay! season saved!!!!

Hopefully 2012 version of AJ shows up and not the guy from the 8 previous years.

Opponents hate him and teammates love him for the same reason. He'll do whatever it takes to win. Always good to have those types of guys on your team. No matter what the amount is, I dont think anyone can complain about a 1 year contract either.

If he's not on your team, you love to hate him. If he is, you hate to love him.

A year ago, I don't think I would have said this upon hearing we'd just gotten Pierzynski, but things are looking up.

Maybe it should have been a 1-year plus a team option for '14. The '14 FA class of C's is pretty stinky, and Alfaro and Deglan will still be a year or two away at the start of the '14 season.

Could be an option. The details havent been disclosed yet.

I like the staunch winning attitude AJ will bring. He's a wiley Vet, that will bring leadership,
to a mostly young team. A one year(ughumm, Ms. Katie)will allow both team & player to
get use to each other. Hey, like a date! I think we'll see him back. His bat fits the Temple.
I can't wait to watch him throw rocks & dirt on the Angels shoes, while in the batters box.

I have been reading up on ajp and i am pretty excited. Every team needs someone like him, and its a plus that he is hated by the angels. I'm ready for baseball.

Exactly Hubz. The Rangers just nabbed a (lefty-middle-of-order) vet with some testicular fortitude at a position that was a glaring weakness. With minimal commitment. The reason people despise AJ is precisely why this team needs him: he's an asshole with the balls to force his teammates to understand that losing is unacceptable. We're not taking AJ home to mama, he plays baseball, and I for one welcome our new catcher to Arlington. The 2012 Rangers were soft down the stretch, the time they needed to go hard, and a winning attitude is cultivated through intolerance to losing. The World Series Rangers had this, to such an extent that even when we were down in the 9th I still expected us to win. That wasn't the case last year.

And as Hubz alluded to, AJ is gonna have a field day with those Angels hitters. Look forward to him chewing hambones ear off, then calling nothing but change ups low and away. Let the LA teams be the pretty boys, the Rangers will be the gritty team that grinds you down into the dirt and never lets you back up. That's how baseball go.
