Forum > The Curse of Beltre

Ever winter since they decided to pass on Adrian Beltre, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (aka Los Angeles en Los Angeles en de ciudad de Anaheim) have GONE BIG in WInter deals. First, they trade away failed catching experiment Minke Napoli for Vernon Wells (aka the contract from hell", then the next winter they go even bigger and sign rapidly aging Pujols and due for his decline CJ WIlson to long term deals, and now, to top it off, they've GONE BIG on an aging slugger with Issues.

For all I know Pujols and Josh duke it out for the triple crown this year and CJ wins 20, but lets get real, that ain;t happening. Pujols is a declining hitter, CJ is declining pitcher, and Josh will hopefully only decline when it comes to production....

And it's all because they pinched their pennies on Adrian Beltre.

Whew! lol

You sound like a disgruntled former Angels fan.

You sure it wasn't because they were just ticked they got overtaken by the Rangers (and then the A's)?

It's very possible that Beltre wouldn't have produced in their park as he has for us. I give JD a lot of credit for recognizing that Beltre could maximize his potential in RBIA. If you look at the #s he put up in Seattle, they aren't that impressive. Yet he's hit like a HOFer here. I think this is an instance where JD played to our strengths and brought in a player who is worth more to us than to most other teams.
