It's always a relief to me when the Rangers refuse to overpay FAs, because these big contracts are basically paying for past performance. In strict bang for the buck, they are all mistakes. Occasionally, you see a big FA contract that represents real value and is a good fit for the signing team. The only one I can think of offhand is for the guy who plays 3B for the Rangers these days.
