Forum > What if he says no???

So you are saying Wash is "dumb'? Maybe you could solicit a list or "binder full of white guys" who would not make those "dumb" decisions. Not hard to read between the lines on most of these posts. But you're right all Wash did was take 2 teams to the World Series. And take this years team to the playoff EVEN though they lost 2 of their starting pitchers, had a miserable year from their 2B., so-so year from RF, terrible year from their catchers, no bench play etc. Yeah bring on the white guy cause obviously this guy cant manage worth a damn.

Congratulations on proving yourself to be a complete tool by trying to make this a race issue. You're obviously a troll. Please leave and never come back.

You're an idiot. In no way, shape, or form did anyone bring up race. You could give me Dusty Baker and I'd be ecstatic. Wash has loyalty issues. Plain and simple. Anyone could've pulled off the job he did last year. The real question is, would anyone else have done better? Of course.

Allbeit, what you say, are correct and hard to dismiss, (1) that RW played it TOO close to the vest.
The one incedent that does stick in my craw, was (2) playing Young at SS, with Profar on bench.
Also so so rarely (3) not mixing-up the lineup and keeping Young in a heavy RBI scenario- ALL year.
Not exploring (4) other lead off choices, even though Kinsler was drowning, comes to thought also.
Maybe RW's vision of (5) getting maximum performance from HIS team, will change. New season...
Wiser Wash?

If you read between the lines I think maybe it is a race issue with our manager. I agree with Fan. And usually those who disagree the loudest and hardest are the ones he speaks of.

You never hear a fan call a white manager 'DUMB'. Just sayin.

You guys who are turning this into a race discussion watch too much TV. Don't call white managers dumb?! Ever heard commentary on Don (Gerbil) Zimmer!? With the Rangers, historically, it was dumb owners who wouldn't leave general managers alone to do their jobs - can't really blame Pat Corrales or Doug Rader when they are given the players that they are given, but I don't think it would be hard to find widespread references to Brad Corbett, Eddie Chiles and Tom Hicks as dumb. (Bing just gave me 165,000 hits on 'eddie chiles dumbass', as a quick cross-check.)

The common theme isn't really pure 'dumb' - it is more stubbornness in clinging to an approach or believing in the majesty of your decisionmaking, that gets owners and managers in trouble, but we call it 'dumb' because it's more fun. I guess 'vain' is better when thinking of the criticisms of Bobby Valentine and Buck Showalter - although the behavior of Washington in clinging to a decision could fairly be characterized as vain. Anyway, I think that getting into a situation when Andres Blanco has to be a key pinch-hitter in a World Series game is dumb, and I can live with it if someone thinks it enlightened to name-call because I said that.

Anyway, as Billy Clyde Puckett quoted Shake Tiller as saying, it is is bad when a guy can't get thrown out of a bar as when he can't get in one.

Let's just have fun on this site, okay?

Nope. That never, ever happens. Ever.

lol so white managers are never questioned or criticized? Ask Rockies fans about Jim Tracy. Tigers fans about Leyland and how he stuck with Ryan Raburn for so long and batted Quintin Berry 2nd in a WS game. Ask Cardinals fans about Matheny's love of bunts.

Simply read any article about the Rangers not written by Sullivan/Grant/Durrett and it's pretty obvious most people view Wash as overly stubborn and nonsensically loyal. By the way I also found it hilarious that in your rant about how Wash did so great in 2012 despite all the subpar player performances, not once did you mention Young's stinkbomb. Good to know some folks still view Wash AND Young as walking on water.

No, he makes very questionable decisions that run counter to logic - "dumb". That's not exclusive to any race (or, as witnessed in this thread, posts).

This has nothing to do with racism. You seem not to be able to lift the minimum weight of carrying a rational argument.

Can we not ban this douche troll's IP address? It's obvious what he is.
