Forum > "Rangers in on BOTH Hamilton & Greinke"

Deferred money, if combined with payments after contract termination, exposes less of the aggregate compensation to the higher marginal rates.

Looks like Evan Grant is seeing what I'm seeing...and he has "sources". He has a post up this morning saying it's very possible the Rangers end up with Greinke, Hamilton and Upton. He's certainly not the best writer, but he definitely has networks within the Rangers.
Also, if we end up only having to give up Olt and Holland for Upton, do we then enter the Dickey sweepstakes? The price tag would probably be around Perez and some lower levels.

Darvish
Greinke
Harrison
Dickey
Ogando

World Domination.

QUIET(est) BUZZ~
I don't think JD would show up Towers. Maybe a deal is done already for Upton.
Same scenario w/ TB/gm, with a good respect relationship. Same with KC/gm, since
we share ST facilities and are always a good trading mrkt for Rangers.

Upton & Grienke may already be done.
Ham agreed to allow TR to match high offer.
IF Young goes, Josh may be TR signed, giving TR possibilty of Ham, Upton & Grienke to TR.

Why else would JD pre-shop MY, before Winter Meetings? Choices and
To load his guns for a HUGE 2013 haul. Our TR budget- all smoke going in.
We save big bucks by going big, in this years signing crop over next year.

Inside the inside: Olt, Asdrubal, Shields, Holland, Santana, Butler, Myers
Inside/out: Murphy, Cruz, Young, Moreland

Price & LaRoche, along with Olt and Santana are far too reality quiet... sump'nz up.

What the what? My brain hurts trying to comprehend what I just read.

That being said, I don't think we're going for LaRoche unless we swing and miss a couple of times and he's still there. Carlos Santana is not leaving Cleveland and we wouldn't be willing to pay the cost to move him. We're not getting Myers and we're unlikely on Butler.

Plus, I don't think you can really show up another GM. In this era of analysis and statistics you either make a bad trade because you feel something different about a player than someone else does, or you just want to make a move and get desperate.

@Tank
LOL, are you kidding or simply can't comprehend??.
It's called a multi team & player deal. Have you been hiding under a rock?
Of course we're not getting all of those players, DUH!

Now TR Sullivan wrote an article today saying the same thing about Greinke, Hamilton and Upton joining forces here.

Also, the Diamondback just signed McCarthy. Dan Pleasac just tweeted this:
“@Plesac19: #Dbacks come to terms on 2yr deal with Brandon mcCarthy....this may clear the way now for that 3-4 team trade we've heard about.”

Bowden just tweeted this too:
“@JimBowdenESPNxm: A source has told me that Greinke was blown away by Nolan Ryan and Rangers Front Office..loves the ML team, prospects and chances to Win WS”

Hopefully things get settled this weekend.
