Thats the kind of deal JD seems to love. Low risk, high reward.
To think, this dude would have cost us the farm this time last year. Not sure what caused his decline but to go from Ace to DFA'd in a matter of months is pretty unheard of

Wasn't a matter of months he's been in decline for years that with injurys and dimishing velocity pbut on a minor league deal I'd like to have him

Jeremy, he wasn't DFA'd. He is simply expected (according to reports) to be non-tendered.
With a non-tender, they are declining to offer arbitration and allowing him to become a free agent. But that doesn't mean they don't want to re-sign him at a lower amount than arbitration was likely to have yielded.
In fact, the Rangers may go that route with Soto.
On Jurrgens, for some reason he lost it (kinda like Feldman?). Even at AAA level, he was sparing it up. Last year he was an All-Star. This season, at AAA he made 12 starts with a 4.98 ERA and just 39 strikeouts in 72 innings while serving up 10 homers. And he was even worse in 10 starts for the Braves, posting a 6.89 ERA with nearly as many walks (18) as strikeouts (19) in 48 innings.

I'm in if i'ts a minor league deal. He sucked this past year, but he's still fairly young and could probably benefit from a change of scenery. Plus, I am curious what the Maddux's could do with a guy like this.
JV
I'm sure he's waiting for a 40 man slot.
He should go quick, after the Winter Mtngs.

I'd love the Rangers to sign Jurrjens, but I'm sure they won't be alone in seeing the risk/reward opportunity. My hope/expectation is not that they get him specifically, but that they land at least one of these types to provide security in case of injury and perhaps get lucky (some on this list clearly fall more into back of rotation automatically, others NRI).

get Jair Jurrgens on a minor league deal? I think he is free, or will be free. Not a solution to any needs, but could be a low risk signing.
