I am planning a trip to Surprise during spring training for my 30th birthday this year and wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions as far as other ballparks to check out, practices to watch, golf courses to play, etc...

I have been to the Rangers facility and will definitely be attending several Rangers games but just wanted to see if any like-minded baseball fans had any suggestions on other things to do while I am there?

I go every year and stay at the Windmill Suites in Surprise.. it's close to the Rangers facility and there are always quite a few players, coaches and broadcasters staying there, which is always interesting. I recommend seeing the Cubs facility and the Reds for sure, they are all in the Phoenix metro area and within an hour's drive. As for the city of Surprise, it's not that great, just a lot of strip malls and such.. but it works convenience-wise to catch Rangers morning practices and games. However, if you want to stay in a more exciting city, I suggest Scottsdale or Tuscon. The Giants, White Sox, Brewers and D-Backs have pretty cool stadiums as well.. you'll have a good time regardless though.
