Forum > Trade Talk

Looking thru the Forums page and post after post talking about this trade and that trade and who we should or shouldn't trade.
WHY???
From past experiance JD and the boys will grab either prospects that are up and comers (like the Texiera trade) or guys guys who have "something" but haven't shown it yet (Hamilton and Nap) but only once has he ever tried to trade for a big name that I can remember it was Cliff Lee and he gave up Smoak and a minor leager or 2, and that was a trade deadline deal that put us over the top. (so even when he did trade for the big name he didn't give up anything)
SO here is what I think will happen.....the bullpen will be filled thru FA or the minors same with the Outfield and DH.
Olt or Perez might move but I wouldn't count on it
Elvis Profar and Holland are here to stay unless it's a stupid offer like Price for one of these guys straight up they will all be Rangers in 2013.
MY will either see the writing on the wall and demand a trade or he will be a ranger in 2013 (god how it pains me to say that) but if he is still here it will be a 2 or 3 times a week player if that..
I know it's slow guys but all this trade talk is killing me! Please stop.

Whatever you want, Joe.

You may be right Joe C. but trade talk is fun and isnt going to stop. No one is making you come to the site, click on the forum and read the posts.

Deep down you like the trade talks. It's like a little kid dreaming of all the toys they want for Christmas. They may know that they wont get everything on their wish list but that doesnt stop them from dreaming big.

"only once has he ever tried to trade for a big name that I can remember it was Cliff Lee"

Hey Joe C, how about Ryan Dempster? Carlos Lee? Adam Eaton? and these are just ones that he got

I will assure you that he has "tried" for many more...shields, morneau, grienke just last year.

So lets not take anything off the table just yet.

November 15, 2012 at 11:52 AM | Unregistered Commentertrickydick

Come'on 5 gets it. There's not much else to talk about.

"Beltre was awesome this year."
"Josh was inconsistent and frustrating to watch this year."
"How about those last few months with Darvish? He could be an ace."
"Ian just doesn't look like he did last year."
"Where the hell did this David Murphy come from?"
"Gentry should have received a lot more playing time."
and, of course...
"Man, what the hell happened to Michael Young?"

Pretty sure we've had all those discussions already.

Tricky
Ryan Dempster, Carlos Lee, Adam Eaton.
Seriously those are big names to you? Dempster was only picked up because Colby and Feliz went down and they couldn't get Grienkie and he was all that was left!
Carlos Lee was 6, 8 yrs ago and he wasn't a big name then?? also I think he might have been a John Hart deal not JD (but I could be wrong)
Adam Eaton??? Really??? when was he a big name?
Tricky if your going to call me out at least you can come up with something better than those 3!

So this is a post decrying trade threads... that will also discuss trades/possible line-ups?

Also hash and rehash while we wait for real news is kind of all there is to do in the off-season. If there are any ideas for better or more interesting topics, we are all listening.

November 15, 2012 at 2:59 PM | Unregistered CommenterMichelle

If anyone is really in the mood to start some non-trade threads I might be interested in the following:
• Your All-Ranger team (maybe just players since ’95 for us young ‘uns)
• What kind of market will we see for Josh Hamilton, and who are the dark horses in the race?
• Houston Astros. Discuss
• Austin Astros. Discuss
• Who will win the winter in the AL/NL (minus Toronto)
• Who won the Toronto/Miami trade
• Name your 2015 Opening Day Rangers roster
• Thanksgiving wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without ____________

Just some ideas. Hey, maybe this thread can become the official thread generator? What else you got?

Anyone predicting sophomore slumps from Trout? His numbers certainly dropped last couple of months of the season..

Trout slump: we can only hope.

Ya gota admit this is better than trade talk!

Rose NO WAY you let him in until after his death. Pete Rose and shoeless Joe.

November 15, 2012 at 6:39 PM | Unregistered CommenterJoe C.

Shoeless Joe died a long time ago. Why isn't he already in the HOF?

Hm, a baseball website. The most interesting chunk of the year to discuss hypothetical trades. Virginia Tech and the Chiefs both suck this year. College basketball has lost it's luster.

YEAH LET'S NOT TALK ABOUT WAYS OF HOW WE WANT TO MAKE THE TEAM BETTER.

Let's see, I'm currently drinking Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey. Duke doesn't play again till the weekend. Newport's really never lose their luster. A good song to listen to is "When I'm on Pills," by Anthony Green.

Anything else?

I think they should allow Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe into the hall unless you make a "no asshole" policy, in which case you have to kick out Cap Anson, Ty Cobb, Kenesaw, and maybe a few other guys. If you want to make this a moral-only thing, you have a lot of players in a very gray area. Is betting on your team (always to win, so he says) really any more disgraceful than beating up fans or taking racism to the extreme? I don't think so.

Of course, I also don't think PEDs should bar a player from the Hall, although I would think a little less of the ones that have basically been proven. The sad thing about PEDs is, most of those players (especially Bonds) were probably good enough to make the Hall, or nearly so, without them.

"college basketball has lost its luster" - Does anyone even watch college basketball until the conference tournaments leading up to March Madness?

Pete Rose should already be in the HOF. He didnt cheat or take PEDS... I am sure there are a lot of players who "gamble" on games even if just friendly bets between friends.

I know this isnt going to be a popular opinion on this site because the saber numbers say Trout should be the MVP but I definitely vote for Cabrera if given a vote. The Triple Crown is still an impressive feat and MIggy always seems to come up with the "big hit" when needed and is one of the most feared hitters in the game.

November 16, 2012 at 10:12 AM | Unregistered CommenterCome'on 5

College basketball is unwatchable before March unless Duke is playing North Carolina. The 35-second shot clock is a joke.

I love Johnny Manziel but he won't win the Heisman as long as Colin Klein is the senior QB of the undefeated #1 team he will win. Manziel is Trout - the numbers favor him but the Heisman is often all about "narratives."

I miss Dirk Nowitzki :(

And hockey :((((((

November 16, 2012 at 12:36 PM | Unregistered CommenterJondar

@Jondar: and if that happens, the Heisman will prove to again be as much of a sham as Gold Gloves. Possibly more so, because it's arguably a higher-profile award.

The difference, though, is that Cabrera led in the 3 most "traditionally" notable offensive categories. Manziel has Klein beat in almost every category, period. The only thing Klein has going for him is a team that's a likely national champion contender. A&M will get into a bowl but obviously it won't be the championship. Well, that and the whole "a freshman has never won it" thing.
