When you're done thinking about that, ask yourself if you're willing to give that package up for a guy who obviously fell out of favor with the ownership group in AZ, has a questionable makeup, and an odd delivery.

I like where you're head is at, but I just don't think that makes sense for the D-Backs. I think if we threw in someone like a Roman Mendez, we might be talking

Cruz and Murphy have expiring contracts, and Andrus's contract runs up the year after. That's not enough value for three years of Upton and 6 years of Bauer.

I'd like to see if they'd take Holland, Andrus, Moreland and Sardinas for Upton, Kennedy and Goldy.
They might require Perez over Holland since he's prone to the long ball, but holland's contract is team friendly. I've heard after last year Zona is sour on Kennedy but I think he still had decent numbers compared to the excellent year he had in 11. Moreland has just as much potential as Upton and they get Andrus who their really after.

This deal would free up cash for Zona and would make both teams competitive, and us awesome.

I'm pretty sure we're going to have to give up Andrus and Olt on top of everything else to get talks started. They need a 3B and a SS pretty bad so it makes sense. I proposed an Andrus, Olt, Murph, L. Garcia for Upton and Bauer. Maybe another lower pitcher would need to be added, but whatever. I would be for this trade.

Unfortunately, that trade would get laughed at. To say Moreland has as much potential as Upton is crazy talk.

yeah, poor comparison, i mainly meant that they are both similar in that they show flashes of greatness but have yet to show it consistently. I don't necessarily think the trade would get laughed at especially when Arizona is needing to cut payroll... getting Cahill might be the key over Kennedy though. and i'd be fine with that.

They are going to want Profar. If we did not give up Profar I think you are talking Andrus/Olt/Sardinas/Grimm at a minimum.. Olt/Andrus for sure, then maybe even a Martin Perez and + 2nd or 3rd tier prospect like Sardinas/Garcia/Grimm/Borbon/E. Beltre or Luke Jackson type to get them to talk. Questionable makeup and odd delivery make me kind of nervous, but this guy may be super special. Big risk either way b/c we would lose huge on that if he doesn't pan out.

They aren't going to get him. Even if they weren't the more desperate to move their guy (which they are) they wouldn't get him. I could imagine that Profar might be available for, like, 3 guys in the whole league. Upton isn't one of them.

I agree Andy. They aren't going to get him and I wouldn't give him up either. Was saying that we would have to give up a package that started with Olt/Andrus after we tell them no on Profar. I think they would try to get Olt/Andrus/Perez + a 3rd tier, or possibly Olt/Andrus + 2 2nd/3rd tier guys. I definitely would not want to give up Alfaro though. And I would not give up Odor either if Perez is involved. By end of next year both of those guys will hopefully be in top 50 lists. I'm not even sure that I would want to do both Perez/Olt packaged with Elvis. Depending on how down their organization is on Upton/Bauer, it may only take Olt/Elvis/Grimm/Sardinas. Of course, any trade would be contingent on knowing more about Bauer and why they are so down on him. I am not going to pretend like I am an expert on him but do trust that JD will do his due diligence and make the right decision.
