Forum > Dream scenario: MY gets cut, gets REALLY mad, DEMANDS trade
Knowing we were going after another DH, I'm surprised we haven't already heard a hissy fit.

If you get cut, you can't be traded. Just sayin'
The_Henchmen
Stop it with the MY bashing. We hear you-you hate him-GET OVER IT. It's getting really old

Not at the table Carlos.

The Henchmen is right. If he got cut he would not need to demand a trade. He would be a Free Agent
Cosmo
No, I think that he means cut him with a knife. That way he gets angry and demands a trade.

I fail to see how paying MY in full, and then he's allowed to go sign with another team for whatever they are willing to pay, would be any major blow to him. He still gets 100% of his paycheck and more, and the cherry on top for him is that in such a scenario he even gets to pick his new team.
Not saying that waiving him would necessarily be a mistake for the Rangers, given his lack of productivity and the total control he has on Wash's balls, but if the goal is to somehow teach MY a lesson, then this isn't the way to accomplish that.
And proving points and so on is the wrong way to run a franchise anyhow. The Rangers' best move with MY (and the others) is to figure out what it takes to get the best team on the field next year ...and if Wash is going to be the manager, factor in his biases in the process ...then let the chips fall where they may.

The Rangers bring up a bunch of rookies, and Micheal Young says, "I'd have never signed if I'd have known I'd have to play with kids."

I wonder if Torrealba was really cut for his lack of offensive production and if so, considering his offensive production at the time he was cut was almost identical to MY's and that MY was the friggin DH, how is that not making a point? Is it just me or does anyone else see cutting Torrealba as JD sending Wash a "wake the **** up, dumb@$$" sign?
In any case, I believe if Young is cut and then picked up by another team, MY still gets %100 of his salary but no more and the Rangers pay the difference of what the other team is paying him to top up his salary.
The best team is a team without the combo of Wash and MY, no question about it.

"does anyone else see cutting Torrealba as JD sending Wash a "wake the **** up, dumb@$$" sign?"
I highly doubt it. Yorvit played a little too much but they legitimately did not have a better option at #2 catcher. His statistical similarities to Young are meaningless because we all know that FACE was never in jeopardy of reduced playing time because of his #Leadership and Wash's #Loyalty. Even if Michael Young weren't Michael Young, Wash is not smart enough to make the connection that an underperforming player being cut is a warning of some kind. You're right though, the Wash/Young codependency will continue to kill the team if allowed to fester. It's all up to JD.

Wouldn't you just love it if the Rangers cut Young? It's not my money, so if the owners are willing to eat it, then I think most of us would be happy to see another Mikey Baseball hissy fit.
