I'm really curious whenever I see Mike Olt needs / should spend more time in the minors.

Not because I think he's proven himself major league worthy....but because of the simple fact that he's almost 25 years old. At what age is a "top prospect" supposed to play? If he's not good enough to play for the Rangers in 2013 he needs to be traded NOW to be the most perceived value from him.

In fact, I think the Rangers missed their chance, he should have been leveraged at either the last trade deadline or this winter. He's a player without a position and he's already at the age where he should be in the midst of his "prime".

If he's so good that the Rangers refuse to trade him, he needs to be on the big league club. If he's not that good, he needs to be leveraged while he's still perceived to be a "top" prospect. More time in the minors serves nothing here.

Romro,

All of this could be solved with a little aversion of your eye balls from any of the shit you don't like to see on a baseball forum. This thread was mostly dead anyways. I sympathize with what you are saying here but why are you so worked up about it?

BECAUSE ITS A BASEBALL FORUM

who cares man? For my part I am not serially determined to keep posting about Faith in the forum. If anyone is its our friend Eric. All I said was "Berkman is a vocal Christian" embedded in a rather long post about the guy, and he went ape shit. Anyways, what I am saying is that I'm not trying to talk about faith all the time, I only brought it up in response to Eric.

Eric,

You should email the guy who writes that blog and talk to him, pick his brain, he is way smarter than you are. That may not be apparent but I happen to know that he is. also way smarter than I am. He used to be like you, some sort of atheist unbeliever person.

Joe, let it go. Please.

On Berkman...hey, the lineup was a little light and they picked up a short-term guy with the potential for big dividends. He fills an everyday need (DH) and could play a little 1B. Makes sense to me.

As far as Berkman being a "jerk", or an "ass" or and "idiot"....I find this stuff laughable. All these comments seem based on his HONEST answer to a question about an opposing team. He was wrong. He said so himself and admittedly ate crow.

I swear, people get so sensitive about what folks say. First time Berkman dials late in a close game no one will remember an offhand comment he made years ago.

Frankly, between him and AJ I think the clubhouse just increased in honesty and interesting personalities. I think cleaning the clubhouse of the MY / Josh influence and bringing in these two guys is a major net plus.

Finally....I'm liking JD's strategy more and more. While still needing to figure out the Profar / Kinsler / Andrus conundrum and maybe needing a COF and another SP....JD has NOT given in by granting a big bucks / multiyear deal to a questionable talent. He has maintained as much long-term salary flexibility as imaginable and has yielded no prospects.

He's brought in a number of cheap arms to potentially fill the BP, a strategy he's been using for a while (recognizing that paying $7M+ per year for relievers is a losing deal).

Meanwhile, all those bitching about youth can expect to see plenty from the following:

Profar
Olt
Gentry
Martin
Perez
Moreland
Ross / Grim / Lindblom / Kirkman / Scheppers / Buckel, et al.

Once again, I think JD and his crew know what they're doing and all the sky-is-falling BS over the last month of so will look stupid come August.

Joe, I recognize Eric is the one who blew this up. To be fair most Christians are in fact good moral people. Whether you believe in their faith or not is irrelevant. Eric showed his immaturity as do most young atheists who think they have the world by the balls by going on a ridiculous tirade stating things he couldnt possibly prove, that had nothing to do with what you initially posted. He was simply throwing a tantrum like a 5 yr old, and like most atheists who act out in such a manner he showed his ignorance on the matter anyway.

As for you, posting that link didn't help matters. It just looked like instigating. Lets move on from this.

I wasn't interested in instigating. Notice that I haven't responded to his response. I'm just trying to present the kid with information that he doesn't have access to. Just making a suggestion that might help him.

Yes, I'm done with it regardless.

MrMan,

I agree, the more I look at it the more I think JD has quietly put together an elite ball club, or at least one that has the potential to be, a lot of potential.

And think, if we get Upton!? That would be unbelievably badass.
