What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
An unlikely but realistic trade that the Rangers should at least check out, unlikely because A-Rod wants to stay in NY, is Olt goes to the Yankees, A-Rod to Miami and JJ to the Rangers. Why could it happen? The UYankees would pick up most of A-Rods contract, maybe with minimal aid from the Rangers to balance out the trade for JJ, with Miami gaining A-Rod at no salary cost. Then flip Andrus to Tampa for Price. This would create a starting rotation of: Price, JJ, Darvish, Harrison and Holland/ Perez/ or by June Lewis. THOUGTHS?
So you're saying Miami should give up their #1 starter and get a return of an over-the-hill 3rd baseman?
A-Rod is from Miami and we are talking about a team who signed a shortstop for 6/106 last year when they already had a shortstop.
Put it this way, if A-Rod is traded anywhere, it will be either LA or his hometown Marlins, and not for baseball reasons. I doubt he goes anywhere.
Miami wants to cut payroll, and NY has already stated they would pick up A-rod's salary. Miami wants A- Rod for drawing purposes. He has a no trade contract, but would accept going home, where he would be a major drawing card. JJ would also cut salary, which is Miami's major interest. And they would not give up any prospects, which NY would demand. They want a replacement for A-Rod and Olt would fit well, being from Conn.. So the real hang-up is whether A-Rod would waive his no-trade for Miami. I believe he would, but only for going home. It is an opportunity for the Rangers to land JJ, at discount price. A Miami trade for A-Rod. Is a definie possibilty, especially after the Bell trade, where the A's jumped in to land Young for rf. Price for Andrus would be driven for the same reason, Tampa getting an All-Star SS, while cutting payroll.
F u fat ace.
Les,Exactly where do the Rangers fit into all if that? Who gets who for what?
Primi., Yanks get Olt to play third, Miami gets Rodrguez for drawing power and salary relief, Yanks would pay most of his contract more so than then the last time he was traded! And the Rangers get Josh Johnson, who over the years they have tried to obtain even as late as last July. Fly-in-the-ointment, A+Rod waiving his No-trade. Second trade: Andrus goes to Tampa Bay and David Price comes to Texas. A key to this trade is where Hamilton ends up and how much salary relief Tampa needs to survive. It is highly deplorable for a team to win +90 games year after year and in September can not even draw 20000. Tampa needs a top of the order SS, especially if they lose BJ more than a quality starter, even if he is one of the top 5 in the AL
