Why wasnt he given any consideration to be the Rangers Manager?

Because the Rangers have had 15-20 years to evaluate him. Obviously he came up sharp. And to ask that question here just begs for amateurish speculation.

Dave, to answer your question without being a dick about it, the Rangers must value him more in the development of players than the handling of veterans. Usually in the Major Leagues front offices like to have guys that have either been there before or who have strong name recognition. Jones really doesn't fit the bill.
