Those of you (or the one person posting under 5 names) slamming Eric and the likes crack me up. Eric is one of the small handful of guys on this board that know what the fuck they're taking about and don't simply spew copious amounts of bullshit in every post. Just because you don't understand or care to understand and discuss their points doesn't mean they don't have serious merit.
I probably shouldn't sit here and feed you, but constantly seeing posts like that in every thread is old and tired. If you don't like good insight, go read some JJT.

I feel like this is overreaction. Kinsler had a bad year, offensively and was still one of the better 2b in the game. I'm not really sure for the reason other than he hit the ball in the air less this year. I'd consider this year more of a fluke than anything as it is totally out of line with his other years and his approach at the plate is generally solid. Also, he has stayed healthy now 2 straight years.
YP
If anyone is "spewing" massive amounts of "copious bullshit" that would be Eric. His is the ONLY opinion that matters and most of us are delighted when 60 minutes go by without a peep from the prick. I can only assume that you 2 are close as this isn't the 1st time you have gotten bent outta shape over his crap. GET OVER IT

What is your point? To contribute something to the forum, or to spread your tired, pathetic, recycled nonsensical hate? Did I ban you from a Gameday Chat against the Royals back in August or something?
The problem with you trolls isn't that you're stupid, I can deal with stupidity, it's that you choose to aim your stupidity at other posters, rather than the Rangers. If a poster writes something that I don't agree with and I respond, it doesn't mean I dislike the other poster. It means I want the other poster to fire back and tell me why I'm wrong and they're right, or, if it's not such a black and white issue, why their rationale is objectively plausible and not subjective.
I'm really trying to get to the heart of your nature, because I really do want to understand where it is you're coming from. If not, well, BBTiA has seen its fair share of trolls come and go, and it's really not so difficult to just ignore all your garbage.
I know I've giving you what you want by responding, but I really am being sincere in saying I'm just trying to understand.

I rather enjoy all the trolling. Trolling the Rangers serves no purpose, but trolling people is always worth a laugh, if the effort is there. You can also be a sarcastic dick without trolling though. There is a fine line.
Anyway back to the issue at hand. It's still stupid to trade kins, unless you get a C OF with as many years of control as Kinsler. Switching Profar to second really hurts his value though, so trading Kins doesn't make much sense folks.

I don't understand trolls of any type. I do dismiss comments against other members of this site. Of course, there are exceptions. I was once very politely remonstrated for referencing Bleacher Reports (point well taken, won't happen again). Eric and the other saber oriented fans (they are in fact Ranger fans) may have acerbic moments but not to the extent worthy of the derision sometimes exhibited here.
Opinions may be interesting but opinions supported with facts and interpretations of facts are much more interesting. They are insightful. If you must vent against the proponents of contrary opinions, I suggest making and using o voodoo doll will be much more cathartic. If you want to spear the Erics of this world, marshal your facts and analysis.

Can we trade Carlos for Kinsler?
dhillii
Kinsler/Alfaro/Leury Garcia/Buckel for Weiters
Du3CeS
Kinsler for King Felix straight up.

I'm glad Eric never posts anything REALLY stupid

Hi Jim B., I was doing my best Jim B. impersonation.
Can you the taste the sarcasm in my above post, Jim B.?
Tell me what you think, Jim B. I need to feel more enlightened. Only you can give me the answers I so desperately crave.

What are the Rangers chances of resigning Elvis long term. I was under the impression that our chances were pretty much nil. Doesn't any discussion over what Kinsler might yield in a trade presuppose that we will be able to retain Elvis?
I know this is outside the scope of the forum topic, so apologies to the op, but I was just curious as to whether others had insight I did not about our chances of retaining Elvis after his contract. (Also, I guess, whether there would be any sense to trading both of them and picking up another 2b through free agency, for those who seem to think Kinsler is about to nose dive).
Nate
Seriously Eric you need to stop with the trolling. Add something worth reading or go away. GEEEEZ

@Nate
No insider trade here, just dealing with the facts. It seems logical that the Rangers pursued an Elvis extension last offseason, but when they couldn't come to a longterm agreement, they instead used the money (at about half the years and dollars Elvis Andrus is expected to net through FA after 2014) to lock up Ian Kinsler (5 years/$70M).
Being that Kins makes so much, especially coming off a down year, we wouldn't be able to get much of a return for him. He's more valuable to us than he would be to trade.
Jurickson Profar really complicates the thought of bringing Elvis back longterm. He's arguably already ready, and is going to make less than 1/10 of the money Elvis Andrus is due the next two years (even though Elvis is cheap, Jurickson is cheaper). Conflate that with the fact that Scott Boras is Elvis's agent, and you're looking at even slimmer odds that Andrus is retained prior to when his free agency window opens, in which he's sure to net top dollar on the market.
So if you're asking me to handicap it, I'd say there's a 75% chance Elvis gets moved this offseason, 15% that Ian Kinsler gets traded, and 10% that Elvis is our Opening Day SS in 2015.
eric reining
And I would say there is a 90% chance you are wrong as usual
Jim B.
1) I've read a few posts, one in this thread, that suggest that Kinsler's down year this year is an anomoly that should correct itself in future seasons. What is the rationale behind seeing this season as an anomoly that will correct itself rather than father time causing this decreased production. If Kinsler's age is the reason for his decreased production, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that his production will increase next season?
2) IF JD is of the belief that Kinsler's decreased production is the result of his age, why would it not be a good move to make a "salary dump" style trade, as a few have mentioned any trade of Kinsler would be, and allocate those resources elsewhere? Again, this is a question based around the assumption that JD believes Kinsler's lowered production is from age.
Nate
Kinsler hasn't lost bat speed or regular speed for that matter. Despite his walk rate plummeting, he still has a solid approach at the plate. His LD% was way up this year. He was swinging and missing a little more but still way below league average. It just seems like this year was fluky more than anything else. He's only 30 and in the prime of his career and coming off a career best season.
