What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
Just for speculation. Your best guess as to what JD could get. I know he's signed[that doesn't make him untradeable]. I know he had a BAD year. And don't say we pe will put him in LF. That's just not gonna happen. For instance-would Perez & Kins bring Upton etc?
The Dbacks have Aaron Hill at 2B so would have no use for Kinsler. There weakness is at SS.
How bout Kinsler for the catcher at toronto-Arecibia?
I think the rangers are better with Profar starting in the minors. Why would the rangers sell low on Kins? If they are intent on trading him, why do it after the worst year of his career?
Joker: Maybe because he sux! & makes WAY too much for what he brings
Good question Carlos. I'm sure JD is looking at all options, including this one.
Kinsler is only valuable to a GM who thinks he's being underpaid. The Rangers owe him $70 mil over the next 5 years. He'll need to produce about 13-14 WAR to earn that. He had only 3 WAR this year, and he's not getting any younger. So you have to find a GM who is willing to gamble that Kinsler's 2012 was a fluke and that he'll rebound in a big way next year. And that GM has to be willing to overlook the fact that during his career and especially recently, Kinsler has been terrible away from RBIA.
Bottom line: Kinsler doesn't net much if anything in a trade. I don't think he's going anywhere. Andrus is the guy who's being underpaid. So he's the one with a lot of trade value.
RFan has this right, even though I'm not sold on 2012 being a trend as to how Ian's going to perform over the next five years. If he stays at 2B, which is his best position both defensively and offensively from a WAR standpoint, I don't see any reason why he can't provide at least 3 fWAR on average over the next five years.
Maybe he has another clunker of a year when he starts aging down in his age-34/35 seasons, but I have a feeling he will compensate for that by posting a couple 4-5 fWAR seasons before that. He's on the wrong side of 30, yes, but he's still in his prime. No reason to jump ship unless he shows the same type of results next year.
LISTEN UP--I don't give a crap about WAR-how much someone is being paid or is underpaid. I want someone who PERFORMS. Kins doesn't do that for ME. If you luv him so be it. Just trying to gauge what he could bring in a FAIR trade for both sides. Again Just asking. Maybe its a little-maybe you think its a klot--JUST ASKING. 7-8 responses-one name mentioned in trade. This isnt rocket science girls.
Well, to get reasonable responses you need to produce reasonable scenarios. I'm pretty sure RFan and I are simply trying to paint the complete picture here. You can't just ignore the fact that Ian Kinsler is due a lot of money over the next five years. Yeah, off a down year, that significantly decreases a player's trade value.
To answer your question, no, Arizona wouldn't accept a Kinsler and Perez for Upton trade, because it doesn't make any fucking sense.
LISTEN UP--I don't give a crap about WAR-how much someone is being paid or is underpaid. I want someone who PERFORMS. Kins doesn't do that for ME.
If you don't think 30-30 is performing, I'm not sure what is. You can disregard WAR all you want, but it is our best measure of PERFORMANCE.
Kinsler would net nothing in a trade, zilch. The player you get in return would be trimmings from a farm system. Kinsler is worth his contract to just about any time. In order to get something in return, you have to give something. I can't expect you to give me anything if I trade you my house with a $300,000 note fully unpaid on it.
Sure, my house is worth $300k, but now you've also assumed $300k in debt. Why would you give me anything?
You cannot disregard his contract when you want names of potential trade targets.
Just trying to gauge what he could bring in a FAIR trade for both sides. A "FAIR" trade is HIGHLY subjective, but if we take out our "love him/ hate him" factor, you'd be looking at a zero-gain/loss situation. It would be the same as saying, I'll trade you this $100 bill, plus $100 in debt. Would you make this trade? What good does it do for you?
If there was GM out there who valued Kinsler + Kx, then you'd likely get a low prospect with a low projected ceiling.
Perhaps someone with a better knowledge of prospects would be able to answer your question. I'm not sure such a trade would happen.
"LISTEN UP--I don't give a crap about WAR"
But the GMs that JD is negotiating with do. That's the problem.
You could trade Ian Kinsler to the hotdog stand out in CF and get a couple tremendous wieners in return, resulting in a 2.0-3.0 WAR (Wieners Above Replacement). So I guess the name you're looking for is "Nathan's Hot Dogs" or "Hebrew Nationals"
I guess most of you are too stupid to understand the gist of my post. WHO WOULD YOU CONSIDER A FAIR TRADE FOR KINSLER?
Why are you yelling?
Are hot dog stands and houses usually brought up in trade discussions. I do believe 47% of you dont under speculating about trades.
If I trade my 300K house for your 300k house it can be a win/win. It depends largely on what your objectives are. What are your needs? What are the other guy's needs?
What this team does not need is a declining Ian Kinsler. It does need a place for Profar to play. It does need defense up the middle. This is particularly the case if Josh Hamilton walks. Mike Young's offense will leave a hole (albeit a small one). What if Napoli leaves? Nelly Cruz may walk after '13. Beltre is getting older and there are a lot of games on his body. Another career year from Murphy...hmm, maybe. You're going to need DEFENSE.
The Rangers may wind up exchanging big contracts because it solves the puzzle. Think about the mindset of Nolan Ryan and Ron Washington. What are they always preaching? Pitching and defense.
With this in mind, what do you think their assesments of Kinsler, Andrus and Profar are right now?
Carlos what is your point? This is easy to understand yet you are acting like a dumbass.
1) Ian's value - contract outstanding = trade value
2) Rangers get whatever his trade value is + consideration amount of present salary (i.e, how much of Kinsler's salary do the Rangers kick in).
Quit shouting and being a dick, it's Sunday.
The best I can figure Nompton wants to trade a house for someone.
LIVER: Listen up-u dont seem real bright. WHAT do You think JD could get for KINS? GEEEZUS! NAMES!
In July, Fangraphs listed Kinsler's trade value at #30 overall, which puts him in the range of Bundy, CarGo, Profar, Sale, Trumbo, Austin Jackson, Sandoval, and Joey Votto's Contract. Toronto won't need both Arencibia and D'Arnaud next year, and Kelly Johnson isn't going to get the job done at second for them, so I'd like to think JD will soon talk to the Blue Jays front office about a Kinsler deal.
Asshole: it is Sunday; 2 days after the Rangers stumble-fucked their season away. Go do your own research as to who. I don't like your tone. You want names? Go google some names
LIVVER: I dont think u can say someone is a dumb %#$ on here-so I wont. But gee you seem angry. I googled a--hole and got your biography. Basically it said you were a nerd who uses curse words to get his meager points across.
