Forum > Too tired?

Does anyone think the team was just plain tired after playing 34 extra games after the last 3 year (whether it be mentally or physically?)

No.

The Yankees won how many World Series in a row? Granted there was a round or two fewer in those days, but they still played way more baseball than other teams. PLUS, most of their players in those days barnstormed relentlessly.

The Rangers just lost their enthusiasm. They lost their direction. They lost their drive. And, they didn't have a manager who could help them get it back.

"Tiredness" was just in their heads. They were tired of work when they should have been playing a game.

No. Their "tiredness" came from sprinting out of the gates in April and never being given sufficient days of rest. When you have 7 guys play 154 games, you're not going to get much out of them 6 or 7 months later.

just look at all the bullshit surrounding the team:

1. postseason expectations
2. michael young's horrendous year
3. a stupid, stubborn manager who let the second worst player in baseball play 156 games with better options on the bench
4. hamilton's uncertain future looming large and other stuff off the field

it's entirely possible some of the players just weren't as passionate about winning. maybe some of them became detached from one another and their manager. these are human beings and this is their job after all.
