Forum > There is this creeping sense of entitlement and defiance near the end of the season

This week started with Ian Kinsler making an off-hand remark that they are still the best team in the majors.

And before the week was over, the Rangers proved themselves to not even be among the top 3 teams in the American League.

This remark made by Kinsler, along with Ron Washington's increasingly defiant tone during the final couple of months of this regular season makes me think that they felt entitled to the postseason It must be a clubhouse mentality that, no matter how many people were slumping, there was no need to push themselves to a higher level because they still thought they were "da best."

I sincerely hope that the Rangers regain a basic sense of humility and that leads to them regaining some hunger and drive AND PRESSURE on themselves to truly earn the distinction of being the best.

With the exception of one or two guys, nobody on this team should feel entitled to a starting position next year. Absolutely no one. And that's not anger speaking, I think that should be a message that should be delivered to each member of that clubhouse.

Ron Washington says "you can get off the train, but you can't get back on." That is wrong. We can get off and on a train quite easily when it doesn't go anywhere.

Couldn't say it better myself. Certain players (Josh, Ian) had an air about them that because they have been to the WS two years they are owed something. They showed no respect for playing the game the right way, the way that wins big games; games played at this time of season. Others (Derek) demonstrated that they aren't mature enough yet to handle the prosperity that the Rangers have had the last two years.
