What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
So rumor has it that Washington and even the great Jon Daniels read BBTIA and even confirmed that personnel from Ben and Skin read posts here for subject material.
So, here's the call to Arms. Emote. All emote on the Rangers lineup. Let's go viral. The Rangers aren't dead yet! There's still proof of life. The Rangers can win this game and they can beat the Yankees, but it's going to take a wee bit of change in the lineup.
1) Free Craig Gentry! Put him in CF. He'll take one in the head to get on base. He'll lay it out to get a catch and he'll rob someone of a HR.
2) Don't play Young. Okay, never mind, that won't happen.
3) Input your own better lineup but for the love of Ranger nation call out to do something different. This lineup isn't working. Pull Kinsler down etc.
4) Your input will be read!
Go Rangers! You're not dead yet!
Wash and JD read this site? I know Ben and Skin have referenced it, but what is the source on JD and Wash?
Against LHP, home:
Kinsler 2BAndrus SSHamilton LFBeltre 3BMurphy RFNapoli 1BCruz DHSoto CGentry CF
Kinsler finished 2012 with an OBP of .361 at home and .290 on the road. He also hit .350 against LHP and .226 against RHP. But Andrus should leadoff on the road as his home/road splits were nearly identical this year, and he actually hit RHP better than LHP. Not surprising that Wash didn't make lineup changes accordingly. You can make the argument that his failure to make the best use of the assets available to him was what cost the Rangers the AL West Division Title.
Where is the source that indicates Wash knows anything about the internet, let alone how to even operate a computer?
Young hits lefties just fine. Your defense is worst putting Murphy in RF over Cruz.
"So rumor has it"
Yep they do. Very thoroughly in fact. This website has become known as the heartbeat of the Ranger nation. It is why Grieve has been given marching orders to promote Young's positive stats from any angle possible. This isn't done for any other player if you have noticed. Why, they know that many Ranger fans do not understand blind loyalty to an underperforming player.
The Ranger Front Office is very interested and concerned with public opinion. BBTIA is the front runner in this area. Ask the producers of local espn radio. This website is well read by all. A tribute to Joey!
Whatever the change may be so be it. Just change it.
Okay God, using your suggestion:
Kinsler 2BAndrus SSHamilton LFBeltre 3BMurphy DHCruz RFYoung 1BSoto CGentry CF
That looks pretty good to me. Also, Cruz has a .944 OPS against LHP and Young has hit them much better than Napoli this year.
This may be the last time ever say this, but I want Young to start. Hopefully Beltre can play the field. Gentry's bat has been way out of rhythm lately (25.8% K rate since 9/1), and the last thing I want is for Wash to even think about giving up an out by bunting. The Rangers play well at home, they play well against Baltimore, and they've killed Joe Saunders in the past. Don't mess with anything now.
Kinsler 2B, Andrus SS, Hamilton CF, Beltre 3B, Cruz RF, Young DH, Murphy LF, Napoli 1B, Soto C.
Rumor has it if you send me your banking information so I can get money to the United States, I will send you millions of dollars.
But Gentry has still been able to get on base recently despite his limited opportunities, and has gone 7-for-24 (.292). Perhaps the times that Gentry did struggle could have been avoided had he been given more consistent playing time by Wash. Gentry's .343 average against LHP for the season is much higher than Napoli's .179, so I think he should get the start.
I can't imagine Napoli not starting tomorrow/today. That's just silly.
These are the playoffs. Starting player X over player Y for reason Z doesn't matter. OPS doesn't matter. WAR? Nobody gives a shit. In the playoffs you have stats that try to guess what the right move is, but the only stat that matters is an integer. And we want our integers to be, in order, 1, 3, 4, 4. That's it.
Concerns that Michael Young's bat isn't slumping but is instead slower because he's old? What has he done for us lately? Nobody cares. What's he going to do now?
Oh well. Can't please everyone.
This is the funniest shit I've seen all day!
I'm just going to say that my general #1 and #2 in the linuep would be Murphy and Beltre.
So Napoli can't catch for Yu anymore? With the offense so bad already right now I don't know how you can justify starting Soto in a do-or-die game. This of course assumes Young is gonna DH because well, Young is gonna DH. :-(
Okay~ first I disagree with keeping everything as it is. My belief is when you keep doing things the same way without any changes~ you usually end up with the same results. I like SilverSlugger 21's lineup~except for the fact that you must factor in Mr Young. As far as I know ~ he has played in every game except when he was off for paternity leave & that will not change now. And I want to include Napoli in the lineup as catcher. (the position that he loves to play & suits him well) He is a big part of the team & a crowd pleaser.~ So this is my proposal.
Elvis ~SSKinsler~2Beltre~3Hamilton~LFMurphy~RFYoung or Moreland~1Gentry~CFCruz~DHNapoli~C
I also agree with SilverSlugger21's comment about Gentry. He definitely deserves to play in this game. In fact, he should never be stuck on the bench. Sure he may not have been batting as well as he would like to. In September ~ he played in 11 games~ 5 of wihich he was stuck in straight from the bench in the bottom of the 8th or the 9th. So we aren't talking about full gameswhich is much different. The starters in the line up have been striking out the first time up to bat fairly often lately. =( And Gentry is so valuable in the OF. He has made some plays that no one has matched in the OF ~ like stealing the oponents HR at the wall or throwing it all the way to homeplate. Or what about the recent double play in Sept from the OF. That counts as 2 runs for us in my book. Gentry has the speed & very accurate throws that we need in CF~ plus he has "zero" errors. He has even assisted Hamilton a few times in the last couple of games he has played.. You can be assured CF is covered when he is there.
I would really like to see the players who have been with this club at least all year~to be able to be what is hopefully not the last game. This is an awesome team of talented athletes~ that I feel are champions at heart. They have given us a lot of great entertainment this year. And I hope they continue to play all the way to the World Series.
Guys, rumor has it that Nolan reads this site and regularly posts on these forums. Rumor also has it that the players have a monitor in the dugout dedicated solely to BBTiA's game chats. Rumor furthermore has it that Joey Matches is actually Josh Lewin in disguise, keeping track of Ranger Nation from afar.
Rumor heretofore allegedly additionally has it that playoff baseball makes fans go crazy. Exhibit A: this thread.
It's not a terribly implausible rumor. We know Chuck Morgan reads this site; he posts here now and then. I doubt they reference it on a daily basis, but I wouldn't be surprised if J.D. and/or his staff have been here a few times. Obviously I wouldn't expect an acknowledgement of that (remember C.J. on LSB?) but there's a very real possibility someone in the organization is reading this very thread, even if they never think twice about what they've read here.
Here's the lineup that they will trot out:
Kinsler 2BAndrus SSHamilton LFBeltre 3BCruz RFYoung DHNapoli 1BSoto CGentry CF
As usual, MFix's post includes numerous unsubstantiated claims.
If you are going to claim in the title of the thread that "Wash and JD read" this blog, then provide the source.
It's not a "rumor" that Ben and Skin read the site - they reference it all the time.
If Young and Napoli are both in the lineup, wouldn't we rather have Napoli at DH and Young playing 1st. Neither are good defensive 1st basemen, but Young is better over there than Nap. Okay, as I type that now I'm thinking that if Nap starts at DH and something happens to Soto such that Nap has to catch then you lose your DH. If that's the case, maybe having Nap there is the right move. Tough call, but unfortunately Nap scares me on defense over there now.
Kinsler is gonna lead off the bottom of the first with a jack, so I'd leave him at leadoff.
Here is my PREDICTED line up card:
The only change I'd make is put Nap behind the plate, move Young to 1B, and let Murph DH today. A little unusual I know.
