His 2010 hitting took a nose dive after the All star game Home Run derby if you recall, too. Correlation?
But nothing about that night will be "the worst thing that happened to the Rangers this year." That was pure magic regardless.

Maybe worst in terms of setting hopes and/or expectations for the season ahead.
Welp
Rangerbourne, I think maybe you meant to say 2008 instead of 2010? Just curious.
Either way, something that struck me as telling this season was how Josh refused, even publicly, to make adjustments. In 2010, he vaulted himself to AL MVP after eliminating that toe tap from his swing. This season, however, he was unwilling to make any kind of adjustments, instead sticking by the Ron Washington philosophy that, hey, it'll all work out in the end if we just keep plugging away.

In retrospect, was Josh's 4 homer night among the worst things that happened to the Rangers this year?
I seem to recall Hamilton hitting for an insane average up until that point, using both sides of the field.
I even remember the herniated version of Josh dropping singles the other way during last year's postseason.
But his plate strategy during his power binge was simplified to "swing hard at anything that looks good," as he admitted in several interviews. And he hasn't been able to disengage since.
Not that he asked me, but I'd rather have an ailing Josh hitting like Joe Mauer than healthy Josh hitting like Adam Dunn.
