Forum > what do you think hamilton's final line will be?

i'm disappointed that he hasn't improved his plate discipline. i didn't expect him to hit .400 for the entire season but i didn't think it would plummet to .320 in such a short period. his fWAR hasn't increased in over a month. i think he'll end the season with a line of .290/.346/.595

Over the last 30 days, pitchers are throwing him strikes at a 34% rate. I think that proves that MLB pitchers make mistakes 34% of the time. That rate should be 0%. Hamilton is starting to become more irritating than MY. At least with Face, I think he's trying. He's just old. With Hamilton, I think he is just too stubborn and arrogant to take balls for a week or 2 until pitchers start throwing him strikes again. I'm generally a guy who belittles talk of body language and players not trying, but in Hamilton's case, I think he has the talent to be a great player. It's not about talent. The issue is something else.

Honestly?

.400 wOBA
170 wRC+
40 HRs
130 RBI

K rate of 34% based on how many strikes Josh has been thrown.

41 bats tossed.

His teammates sure didn't seem to care for his latest flying bat episode tonight.

Josh will forever be a deeply flawed mega star.

.315 / .400 / .620
8.5 WAR
145 RBI

I'm not sophisticated enough to do the other weighted metrics.

These projections are all right in line with my thinking.

But as Hamilton's numbers fall to make him look more human, so does his new contract price. I'm not saying it'll be an astronomic fall (see Mike Napoli). Just a little bit of one.

The league has clearly figured out how to pitch to Hamilton and he's shown zero adaptability. That makes what happened in June a better indicator of future performance than what happened in April & May. While It's hard to imagine Hamilton being June-bad throughout the rest of the season, I think he'll be closer to it than many think.

I think Hamilton's final line will be "That's some good shit."

And then he will keel over and die from his overdose.

I think he begins to pull out of his slump later during this homestand and has a decent week before the All-Star break. After which he'll have gotten a few days of rest to get his head right (I didn't realize the Rangers had two days off after the ASG until today) and be ready to punish opposing pitchers once again, although probably not to the same degree as he did the first two months.

Final Line:
.335/.385/.655 102 R, 40 HR, 125 RBI 6.2 WAR
