If we could only win one of the next two games, would you rather humiliate CJ for a second time
or annihilate Weaver?
Personally, I'm happy with our achievements yesterday on the Wilson front. And, if I had to choose, I'd prefer to put another ding in Weaver's aura of self-greatness.

Well, there's a distinct possibility we'll get neither. Weaver has been ace-like all but one game this year. If anyone stands a chance against him it's us, but still...he's been looking really good. Our offense will almost certainly have to dig down really, really deep, and pull something out. And Feliz will have to pitch like he did that first night.

Thanks Andy.
Yeah, If I had known nobody would chime in BEFORE Saturday's game, I would have kept it to myself. I feel like I jinxed us against CJ.
I was just reacting to all the Wilson hate from Friday and realizing that as much fun as it is to succeed against him, Weaver is still the Ace of Spades on my baseball terrorist deck of cards list.

I also take some hope in knowing Weaver hasn't faced a lot of bat-swinging fortitude yet this season...

bang!

9 runs allowed all season, and tonight 8 runs allowed in less than 4 innings, and left with 1 on 1 out. this is the type of game that will scar the pitcher for a long time...

Tonight only affects Weaver by raising his ERA. He's pissed for sure, but he understands even the greats have a bad game. We'll see him again in August in Anaheim and he won't be any more worried than he was going into tonight.

Not sure if Weaver's singing along with "Hit the Road Jack" was the height of arrogance or the ultimate "see how tough I am, I don't even care I'm getting hammered"...I'd bet on the former and that the next time we see him he'll be on.

I will give Weaver credit for appreciating irony with his Hit The Road karaoke, and his pre-game interview was surprisingly down-to-earth, but the Ace of Spades went down HARD tonight nevertheless!
I'm not presently worried about the next time we face him.
We held serve. We have an 8 game lead in mid May. And there are reasons to believe Cruz and Napoli are getting their funk out.
I would have been happy with 4 runs in 6 innings from sac flies and passed balls. 8 in 3 1/3 is nothing but gravy, all the sweeter because my 9-year old son called the grand slam saying "Nelli is gonna hit one right now for all the Mothers out there!"

Weaver was throwing 87 to 89 mph fastballs tonight.

If he keeps that up he is going to look more like the 2 of clubs than the ace of spades. A reliever can do that with perfect location. A starter has a lot more trouble with kind of stuff - Exhibit "A" Kevin Millwood.

Weaver's ERA was artificially low because he'd pitched several games against the worst hitting teams in baseball

If He can't throw 91 - 92 with location he isn't an ace anymore
