Forum > Youkilis

Boston may be looking to trade him with him being a FA after this season and underperforming this season.. and with all of Boston's injuries in the OF / rotation and Rangers need for a 1B , how about a Youkilis for Murphy / Feldman swap? Youkilis has won a gold glove and is a proven ML hitter something Mitch isn't

Absolutely not.

Who would play third for the Sox then? Maybe late in the season you might be able to get him if the Sox are out of contention, but with two WC spots that is unlikely. Maybe carlos lee of the Astros but that might not be much better than Moreland/young/Napoli.

The Sox have Will Middlebrooks, a top prospect who got promoted last week as an injury fill-in, and can play 1B.

I don't think either team makes that trade. Feldman and Murphy are much too valuable to the Rangers, and the Red Sox would want more than those two players. A. Gonzalez is locked in at 1B for the next several years, so Youkilis could have value replacing Ortiz should they choose not to resign him after this season. That is, of course, if Youkilis actually gets back to his normal self.

Youkilis is 33 and oft-injured.... He's got the smell of rapid age regression all over him. With his salary, I wouldn't offer a bag of balls for him.

too f’ng funny... I agree with Tex. I don't see a match here. Sure we would take Yuk for a bag of rocks/balls, but not with what the BosSux would want in return. Yuk is their FACE & our FACE is still hitting-thank God.

I just wish wash would keep MY off 3B, that bull fighter “Olay” the other day in Toronto was so f’ng Little League. He never gets in front of the ball unless it is a slow roller… uggh drives me crazzy

But isn't nice that Wash hasn't had him playing 1B this year & by MY’s own admission, he does not feel comfortable there... no shit Sherlock he looks terrible over there. We can only hope it stays away from 1B.

I have to admit MY looks okay at 2b, albeit that his range is miniscule in comparison to Kins

Come’on Holland let’s turn it around tonight!

Just for those wondering about Youkilis over Moreland, here are their stats for 2012 so far.

Moreland: .230/.299/.426 with wOBA of .312 with a salary of $491k this year
Youkilis: .219/.292/.344 with wOBA of .284 with a salary of $12mill this year

So, Moreland, while not exactly lighting it up, has been better in every phase. He's younger. He makes nearly 1/25th what Youkilis does... yeah, I'm not seeing it. Also, Youkilis has gotten worse each of the past 3 years and I see that trend not breaking this year. Especially given his age and low cost.

And lastly, in Moreland's defence:

First 10 games: 36 PA, 3 R, 5 H, 1 HR, 4 BB, 7 SO .156/.250/.250 BA/OBP/SLG
Last 10 games: 31 PA, 6 R, 10 H, 2 HR, 1 BB, 6 SO .345/.387/.655 BA/OBP/SLG

Maybe we should give Moreland at least another month before we rush to judgement
