What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
This year and now, he seems to be the Ranger's rumor radar a lot? He's Texas born, does he want to come home? Just curious if there's some special reason why his name gets mentioned so often, seeing how there are more than a few good pitchers with comparable #s.
Plus, we're sort offull up on lefties as it is both here and down on the farm.
CUrious if anybody knows or has a theory.
I think the main reason is that he used to be in the Ranger's system. JD and Co. are more familiar with him than just about any other available starter (sans CJ) so I have to guess that the front office has a good feel for what he can bring to the table on and off the field and they feel comfortable giving up some prospects for him.
For one year? I find it hard to believe he's that good. His numbers don't suggest to me that we should be trading anyone of substance for him. We have five good candidates for the rotation next year; 6 if you include Feliz. If we're going to make an addition to the rotation from a trade or acquisition, shouldn't we be looking for an ace or someone close? Sheesh. I think I'd rather give Webb a few bucks and see if his surgery will allow him to play like his old self again.
Rangers don't need 2,3,4 pitchers. They need an ace. Pass.
He pitched better than his ERA. I would'nt mind him coming to Arlington.
Danks had an off-year last year, but he is probably as good as Dutch on any of Dutch's non-shutout days/games. You can always use a guy like him to get you innings in the regular season. I do see chaboi's point, though - in the playoffs they really needed an ace. It would have been so nice to have a guy like Lee to pitch against Carpenter in game 7. I guess it depends on who they'd have to give up. One thing no one seems to be saying is that since Chicago is losing Buehrle, are they even going to consider trading Danks before the deadline?
Perhaps the Sox will determine this to be a rebuilding year; they did put an awful lot of players on waivers this year at the deadline, Buehrle's a FA, etc.
