What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
Maddux has been wonderful with our pitching staff. However some of, heck many of the BP management moves have made several of us scratch our heads. Joey has always maintained that Maddux makes those moves with Wash. I actually think it is more Maddux and less Washington. Probably wrongly but still anecdotal evidence from the world series suggest I am correct.
When Harry was on the mound struggling in game 7 the cameras showed Maddux telling Washington to calm down. I believe Wash wanted to pull Harry pretty much right away.
Could these moves be more Maddux than Wash, then you also have the video of Wash telling Maddux they needed to "get his ass off the field" referencing FACE. FACE ended up staying in but I am beginning to wonder about Maddux's management. I know I have heard his name come up for a managers position might it be time to let him go?
mhilgtx - C'man man! You know better than that. Maddux's job is instruction, decisions are alll Wash's. Never figured you as a knee-jerk over-reactor.Look at the obvious weaknesses and don't try so hard to evaluate non-issues.
Maddux might influence Wash's decisions, but I seriously doubt he's always telling Wash what he should be doing. After all, he's the pitching coach, not the manager.
It seems to me that Maddux has gotten excellent results out of a pretty young, but potent, pitching staff. I sincerely hope he doesn't go anywhere. As long as we're talking about the coaches, I want Coolbaugh to stick around too.
Both Maddux and Coolbaugh are a good. What do you think, "Bob"?
You must be kidding! Our big 5 started 157 of 162 games. Our pitching is improving each year. I give credit to Maddux. We have a young staff that has to be babysat. Maddux is doing his job and with Nolan hanging around our staff, barring injury, will just get better. Of all the knee-jerk reactions over the last few days, this may be the worst.
Actually according to Wash's interviews before the WS Maddux has quiet a bit to do with how its all handled. Now my question is if he does which I believe there is video evidence that he does, does that dynamic need to change. Does he need less influence, more influence or let him walk for a managers position if it is offered. That's all I am saying.
Hey bro, you know I like you and am not picking on you, but whatever say or latitude he has, is dictated, allowed, and authorized by Washington. So ultimately Wash is responsible. That is one spot, that I believe most would agree, is the last place you suggest needs a change. Washington mismanaged this team in that series. It boils down to that, as well as the players didn't execute in key situations. I am not suggesting a change to any management or coaching role. Alter the line-up & team accordingly, and learn from your mistakes. It is very plain to me. I was just telling you to not look so hard for the problem that you miss the obvious. Comprende?
Maddux stays. He's done a very solid job here.
I think Texas should fire both Washington and Maddux, since they clearly don't have what it takes to get this team a championship. Probably 100 other managers could do what Washington has done, so not much of the credit for their winning goes to him. But all the credit for their losing is on Washington, since he is such a bad in-game manager. If Maddux is part of that in-game management, they he too should go. If he's not, then he still should go for not speaking out and stopping Washington from making decisions that everyone who's watching knows are wrong.
Nice tongue in cheek post, Bob. There should be no change, which I am sure you agree. Learning from mistakes is what needs to happen. I think Wash otsmarted himself at times. Not a knock, just an observation. Tweak this team as needed. The rest is fine. And BTW Bob, I was just funnin with you earlier. I apologize.
THIS POST ISNT EVEN WORTH ANY THOUGHT OR TIME... YOU MUST BE KIDDING
You guys are familiar with my stances on Wash and company right.
You do understand a little bit of satire right.
This is the kind of crap I see on twitter all the time. It's along the lines of Jerry Jones saying 500 other coaches could win Super Bowls with the Cowboys of the early 80's.
No I don't think Wash or Maddux should go. Do I think they might need some kind of stats guy in the dug out yes. Do they already have one, probably but I am not aware of it.
Elvis's bunt was "successful" yet it lowered WPA by almost 3%. So yeah we can pick apart things all we want but the fact is they blew it as a team and they need more pitching. Now is that more pitching just the guys now getting a full year under their belts as starters, I kind of think so. Do we need to replace CJ, probably. Do I like Darvish for that, yes over the other options that I am aware of he seems to be the best.
Ricky you should know when you are being screwed with. I am sure you will get me next time. Peace and Hugs and gay shit.
@Bob: As long as we're at it, Nolan should fire J.D. for not picking up more better players that could be counted on to get the job done 100% of the time, and himself for not going out there and pitching game 7.
@Jake: You seem to have left the Caps Lock on. It's the one to the left of the 'A' key.
@Andy good catch on the caps thing, lol
Hey Bob, go be a Cowboys fan. You'll have better luck with your management and talent opinions, as Jones will listen to any idiot.
I didn't realize I was an idiot. Thanks for letting me know - that's very helpful information.
