What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
What works is the best TEAM. Not just talent wise, not just pay-roll wise, and definitely not ego wise. Go look at the Rangers in 1999. Then go look at the roster in 2000. Then add, what many on here want to do, sign a $25M FA . Then go look at how that worked in 2001 and 2002 versus 2000. "Well, we didn't have this or that"... or "We lost so & so"... or "We were one piece away!"... Know why we didn't have said pieces? Because of a high priced free agent who is not a team player in A-Rod.
The Yankees are the team many of you should change your allegiance to. Paying about 3 times our payroll makes sense, with prima donnas, arrogance, and self-entitlement... to you anyway.
Give me want and desire and the love of the game with a cohesive group of good men anyday.
That said, there will be additions and subtractions, but not to this core nucleus. And to think there will be big money commital at lesser critical positions is ludicrous.
That would affect the TEAM, in more ways than one.
Some will get it.... Most, ehhh, not so much.
No need to throw molotov cocktails on a day like this.
One win tonight, no matter how it happens, and sabremetricians and old schoolers alike will be celebrating the best day in DFW sports history together!
I don't thnk ANYONE should compare Albert or Prince to A-Rod! You can include Texiera in the same boat with A-Rod and thats what our current management team thought as well. So if JD and Nolan think we ought to add a marquee 1B, then i am cool with that all day long.
But just because Prince and Albert will make a ton of $ doesn't put them in the same pitiful group of scum as A-Rod. It just means they have proven track records for power #'s. They also are very well liked by their team unlike A-Rod- nobody likes that SOB
I like Albert and Prince better than either A-Rod or Tex. I don't think I'd object to having either of them on the team, but my reservations come when we discuss the cost of acquiring them, and I'm still a bit skeptical we're going to spend that much. But if we do I suppose I'd welcome the addition.
Cost or not, I would not want A-Rod or Tex back. If they wanted to come back here, I'd give the Yankees a player not to send them here (can I interest you in a Quintanilla, NYY?)

Ok, I have a mulititude of problems with this.
1. We paid one of the best first basemen in the game 96mil/6 years this past offseason. We raised our payroll by 33 million dollars, won more games, and now are closer to winning the world series this year than we were last year! And the Yankees won it in 2009! They have 27 freaking world series!
2. Why do you assume that, because a player wants to be paid more, that he is a prima donna? Guess we should have cut CJ Wilson before the season ever started then! Or back in 2007 we should have told Michael Young, "you want 80 million over 5 years?! Get out of Texas, you prima donna!"
3. Is this "core nucleus" that you refer to Mitch Moreland? because if Mitch Moreland is one of the cornerstones of this team that we can't afford to replace, then I guess everyone but Estaban German is safe this offseason!
^ Just called Beltre a 1st baseman. Oh boy lol.
