What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
re: sac fly attempt, I did not pay this close attention, but on the FAN, they just dissected the 4th inning, and on the sac fly they say
1. they didn't think the fly was deep enough. I never considered this, I thought it was deep enough, although I didn't know Holliday's arm.
2. They say if Nap had slid more toward 3rd base side, and just used his hand to touch the plate he would have been safe. opinions?
Seems as if the bottom half of the fourth has almost been forgotten, due to all of the problems in the top.
If he slides to the outside of the plate, he is probably safe. This play was squarely on the shoulders of Elvis.
Elvis was on deck when the fly ball was hit. The on-deck batter is responsible for standing behind the plate on a potential play at home and telling the runner where to slide. I watched the play on several occasions and Elvis never left his spot in the on-deck circle.
Just baseball 101 and Elvis didn't do his part.
