What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
Coming soon to a theater new you, the story of the world champion 2011 Texas Rangers:
Faced with the departure of his ace, GM Jon Daniels (Gosling) must find a way to put together a team to make it back to the World Series, or face the risk of being a one-hit wonder. Meanwhile Daniels must deal with a veteran unhappy with his new role (Kyle Chandler as Michael Young) and a squabble among the owners of the team (Jeff Bridges as Nolan Ryan and Robert Redford as Chuck Greenberg). Also starring Taylor Kitsch as the loveable blue-collar catcher Mike Napoli, and Tom Hardy as the injured reigning MVP Josh Hamilton.
*Help me fill out the rest of the cast, there are plenty of roles left to fill* (I considered Jon Belushi for the role of Napoli, but Hollywood chose Kitsch because he was more marketable (and alive))
I doubt you'll see Jon Belushi do any roles, other than a dead guy, anytime soon.
Terrance Howard as Adrian Beltre. The guy's a dead ringer, I think. Elijah Wood with Frodo hair as Ian KinslerSamuel L Jackson as the OSB. And, of course, Charlie Sheen as hard throwing reliever Mark LoweAlso, a Baby Seal as Alexie OgandoHoney Badger as Matt HarrisonAnd some High School kid trying to grow his first mustache as The Dutch Oven.
Because he sells tickets, Morgan Freeman as Wash. Can't you imagine, in his sophisticated and elegant tone, "That. is the way....baseball go."
I'm thinking James Franco should be Kinsler.
Robert Duvall as Nolan?
I'd include Robert Duvall as possible candidate for the Nolan Ryan part. And definitely Joaquin Phoenix plays Mark Cuban for the auction scene.
I google image searched CJ Wilson and this popped up, so I guess CJ would be played by 3 bananas.
I like Wood for Kinsler and James Franco for CJ Wilson. Franco's got that easy surfer voice to match CJ.
Paul Walker would make a good C.J.
Brad Pitt has to be Face, right?
And I think Michael Cera could pull of a good Dutch: http://unrealitymag.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/youth2.jpg
Alan Ruck (Ferris Bueller's friend) as Murphy: http://www.proyouthpages.com/fbueller-alan-ruck.jpg
and a young David Morse as Harrison: http://www.wearysloth.com/Gallery/ActorsM/12430-22084.gif
I'm also going with Clint Eastwood as Nolan. The Frodo and Joaquin Phoenix roles are spot on.
My favorite pick so far has to be Michael Cera for Holland. I've got to stand by my choice of Kyle Chandler (Coach Taylor from Friday Night Lights). He was born to play that role.
And Robert Duvall is a much better Nolan choice than Jeff Bridges... except that he's too old.
There has to be a role in here for Bill Murray right?
Also, the screenplay will have to take some liberties for story purposes. Condense the 2010 and 2011 seasons by making the bankrupcy hearing and Cliff Lee trade take place during 2011.
Is there a scene where JD (Gosling) smashes Hicks face in with a hammer? (see Drive)
dont tell me it ends with JD and Wash dying in bed together from Alzheimers..... i'll cry
If anybody's ever been to Scruffy's in Waco, the bartender who still works there name Emory has to be OSB. He looks exactly like Ron except Emory has dreads (can always cut them). We are buying him a Wash jersey and pants for halloween this year.
do you go Robert Duvall as nolan or james cromwell?(Babe). Got beat two it, but Micheal Cera is Holland to the max. Shawshank Morgan is a dead ringer for Wash...."i remember the first time i laid eyes on Michael Young Duphraine..... Alan Ruck is obviously D Murph, Ben Affleck is Darren O DayMike Napoli would be played by God. Vin Diesel would be Beltre (dont rub his head either) Nelson Cruz played by a blind bag of pubes......Colby Lewis = Josh Brolin
If we're going Major League style comedy you gotta combine Hot Tub Time Machine and the Hangover:
JD: John CusackWash: Craig Robinson (he'll be chubby Wash)Rob Cordry: Matty Ice (face it dude youre bald)Bradley Cooper: FaceEd Helms: Murph DawgZach Galifinakas: Holland (cuz we all know Holland is the king of facial hair)Ken Jeong (playing dual roles of Koji and Yoshi, Yu Darvish in the sequel
of course no Nolan... cuz nolan does not laugh, smile, or know comedy
Really fun forum steve, I was having a pretty bad day and this helped. Thanks!
Any chance we could squeeze Ron Pearlman and Hugo Weaving into this flck.
It's really to bad John Wayne's passed on. He'd be my pick for Nolan.
Mitch Moreland would be played by a young Jonathan Frakes
Too bad Mitch Moreland's number is 18 and not 2, because then Dave Anderson (Patrick Stewart) could say "NUMBER 2, TO THE PLATE" with great urgency as Jonathan Frakes rumbles around 3rd and scores.
Also, we need to get one of those kids from Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights to play Elvis.
Glad you're enjoying it dcaggie06, I like Ed Helms as David Murphy I think the best. If we stay the Moneyball route it can be his "Jonah Hill" moment where a comic actor plays it straight.
not sure about that. But this Too MuchMoneyball is hilarioushttp://popwatch.ew.com/2011/10/04/too-much-moneyball-video/
Sorry, brother. I am afraid that "Dirty Dancing:Havana Nights," is a reference that will not resonate with many Baseball bloggers. However, I am sure that my Star Trek: TNG reference was recognized by all.
Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights? psshhh my motto..... no Swayze, no wayze
They have to show some parts of the 2010 World Series. Tim Lincecum will be played by Wiley Wiggins, and Amaury Nolasco will play Freddy Sanchez.
And Ricky Martin can play A-Rod in the ALCS final SO looking against Feliz.
