What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
Congratulations to the players. Congratulations Ron Washington and the other coaches. Congrats JD and the entire front office.
Most of all, congratulations to us, the Rangers fans, the BBTIA community especially. We've paid our dues. We deserve this.
I'd also like to commend the effort by the Rays, as well as the class post game interview words by Maddon. Very, very classy, with nothing to say but praise to the entire Rangers organization and fans.He is a good Manager and motivator. And that was no walk in the park, but we took it. And when I say we, it is a collective "WE", meaning everyone BadSpellr mentioned.
I was struck by that too, Ricky. It was a classy speech by a classy guy who represents a classy club. I wish them the best.
That team needs to be in a city where they would be appreciated.
The camera also caught Johnny Damon giving a congratulatory wave to someone on the field (from the Rangers) after the game - also came across very classy. I think those guys recognize that Texas is a very talented, strong, balanced team.
I'd agree with that, Jim. They sold out Opening Day, and not again 'til yesterday. My graduating class had more people than the Rays regular attendance. And then there is that horrible stadium in such a place of outdoor beauty. It has a carnival tent roof. Now, I don't doubt they love their team, but who wants to go to that stadium?
There is much to love about the Rays. Like you guys, I have seen nothing but class and respect from them. Maybe after their Cinderella story of a year they'll have more fans next year. I do expect that we haven't seen the last of them yet.
I agree with the general direction of this thread - as Rangers fans, the Rays and their management philosophy are easy to appreciate. It is truly amazing that they are able to remain competitive on a yearly basis considering that the deck is always stacked against them, monetarily speaking.
we did it.
Also, I find it strange, maybe even unfair, that the Rays are a good team, and their city could care less. While the Cubs are terrible and have been for a while, and they sell out constantly.
Why doesn't Tampa have any love for their classy baseball club?
The Rays need to be moved to Orlando or something. Their filed was crap the first game they played in it, the trop is a joke, all the rules bc of the Dam catwalks and them finishing 29th in attendance is absurd.
I did praise their class and effort, and then did criticize their stadium, Martin. Hard to expect people with money to decide between the yacht and deep sea fishing and the beach, etc. to baseball.
For whatever reason they don't draw there. Could I design a stadium that would? I believe I could. Wouldn't be a dome.
The inside of that stadium is depressing, poorly designed, and dysfunctional.
And someone please tell me why the turf is wet throughout the field in there? I assume to slow the ball down a bit or to hamper defense. That wasn't turf pellets in game 3, that was water. And don't preach to me about turf, I have played on it, done athletic fields with it, and have a business associate who sells it.
That field is crap. Still want a dome, when we have a heat-wave and one of the best, if not the best, baseball fields in baseball?
