What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
I love the win against King Felix with the scrubs, tonight's win and many of the others against the Angels, and the 7 run inning game against Boston. What say you?
I was at the game against Felix the day after we clinched and I have to agree with you on that. It was one of the most fun games of the year. The highlight of the day for me was watching King Leonys. Not only the solid base hits against the former Cy Young, but there was a throw he made from center field that was spectacular. There was a man on 2nd and the hitter hit a fairly deep fly ball to right center and Leonys loaded up on it and threw a rope to MY on 3rd. MY even had to back off the bag to make the catch and kind of looked out in CF like 'WTF"? Definitely not that noodle arm Judy Bourbon.
Climbing inside the way-back machine, my favorite Rangers game was Game 3, when Matt Harrison tossed his first of many gems this season, closing out a sweep of the much-hyped Red Sox. A sign of things to come, for the Rangers, for Harrison, and it turns out, for Boston. Sweetness.
I gotta go with Matty Ice Forcing the Yanks into a record 7 GDPs. Pitching perfection at its best. He never panicked, and he trusted his Defense behind him. Classic Wash ball, and thats the way baseball should go....
Runner Up: not really one game but Beltre's ungodly freakish string of HR post hamstring injury. Every single one made you wanna pop champagne like they won the WS. watching him trot/semi limp around the bases will be in my mind for a long time. makes me wish i had a son to share it with :(
Good topic. My favorite game this season has to be the game in Anaheim with Beltre dropping OH SHIT!!! after a couple of bombs.
Very difficult to narrow down, but I'd have to go with the game that the Rangers narrowed their magic number to 1 and had to wait to see the results of the A's/Angels game. Awesome vibe and energy at the ballpark that night!
How about that come-from-behind win featuring the fairly-rare MY home run to tie it? Or the small-ball inning against the Jays with 3 bunts in a row to win from being 1 down?
So many good choices.
I concur, Andy. And BTW, tonight is over and it is Friday AM, so I am back.
I think I almost always have to go with my personal favorite situation, which is the walk-off HR.And of all the one's this year? I think that upper deck shot to the HR porch by Moreland has to be it.
A young kid, in his 1st full year (sort of), who was a stud in the play-offs last year. Yet with talks of MY and Nappy taking games and AB away from him? He still hit 16 HR, including that walk-off.
It's like it's "sports cry" good on several levels; walk-off, good young kid, and huge shot. Just cool!
Just remembered the Napoli game winning slide. that will live in INFAMY!!!! i'm with that other post... Naps long term... i think its been understated how MY's productioin increased his usual "friskiness" that made him and established him as the leader of this team semi diminished. Probably had to do with the tumoltuous offseason, but Napoli did two things one he meant too, and one he didnt. First he showed this team can have some more real leadership other than MY. With that though, (not in a bad way nobody expected him to play forever) Napoli actually showed us all as rangers fans that this team can move forward and succeed without MY. Sign Napoli long term, and when the time comes, we'll miss him, but we'll know he left us in good hands.
To me it all come together when Holland pitched that great game in Cleveland.By that time all our starters were consistent enough and our team still looked a little shaky at times, but I just had a gut feeling that with Holland and Harry finding some consistancy we will win this division.
It has to be Josh's walk-off the night after the tragic accident....the next day, everyone in the media was focused on the Ranger's (and especially Josh's) mental stability going forward in the seasaon. I sports cried that night.
I can tell you which game WASN'T the best - the one where Josh Hamilton hit the grand slam...what are the chances.
I liked the game where Elvis ran home while the pitcher and first baseman were fiddling arounfdwith the ball to win it in walk off fashion.
Lol is that really you carpet guy?
Probably not. I'm pretty sure they had an insurance claim on that promotion that paid off that half-million dollars or so.
Great one though, CC. I had a good laugh.
That CC Carpet posting was shear genius. Damn near spit out my bacon and eggs! Good stuff!
Has to be the one with Face hitting the 2-run homer to tie it and Elvis scoring from 2nd on Hamiltons infield single. Only because I was personally at that game.
