What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
First off, I don't think there's any question a righty-hitting OF has been needed all year. Plus, when we don't have injuries in the IF, we will often have a log jam in trying to get both MY and Napoli's bat in the lineup. GIving Wash the option of slotting one of those guys in the OF gives us one more option.
So anyway.... Do you think MY would be open to preparing this winter for some spot starts in the OF?
If not him, would Napoli be open to it?
Neither is going to be Jim Edmonds out there, but they've got decent speed and good arms. If Manny or Johnny Damon can do it, with some work, they can play passable D out there.
Anyway, just curious what people who know MY (or Napoli) woulod think about it.
MY would be a badass LF. I doubt he would he would do it though.
He was a CF in college for whatever that's worth
Didn't someone suggest at the beginning of the year that they put him in CF? I can't remember who that was...
Young could handle playing in the OF, no doubt. But I'm not sure he would be open to it. Napoli, on the other hand, might be open to it but I have doubts as to whether he could really handle it. Off the top of my head, Biggio is the only catcher that comes to mind that played in the OF, and he was a great deal more agile than Napoli.
MY would be a badass LF.
Based on what evidence, exactly?
Sorry Joey just a gut feeling I feel that he could handle LF well has a great arm and I fell that he was bad at 3rd because he didnt have those cat like reflexes that beltre posseses.
Pretty sure he was working with Gary Pettis earlier in the season in case he was needed out there. I think he's capable of playing out there, not at a Gentry like level but I don't think he'd let a home run bounce off his head.
