What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?

Anybody care to make a guess as to who we might see in 10 days or so?

Unsure about German and Tracy. But I could be wrong. Add Wood to your list. He'll be called up as well.
What's Martin's salary situation? I believe I recall reading somewhere that it's 15 mil for 3 years. However since he hasn't played in The Show yet wouldn't he still have five years of team control left? Or does he get credit for any professional level ball he played outside the states? Depending on the situation I think plays a significant role as to when he gets called up.
I believe it was $15m/5 years on Martin.
I think German gets called up to do nothing but be an extra pinch runner.
Tracy could be useful- this team could do well to add a RH pinch hitter, and that's why I think we see him.
What do you guys think about bringing up Profar. The kid has had a great year, and getting to play two or three games or maybe bringing him in as a late inning "defensive replacement", may finally get Elvis attention. Elvis is a free agent at the end of 2013 and has Scott Boras as a agent. Don't get me wrong I love Elvis, but no championship caliber team can afford a shortstop that makes 25 or more errors a year. I think, if his fielding has'nt improved by the trade deadline next year, J.D. should shop him.
Shop Elvis...started happy hour a little early today?
Joey Butler might be someone to look at since he's tearing up AAA right now. He might be a good option to playing Murphy if Murph doesn't pick things up soon. Shopping Elvis is stupid until Profar is ready but if you have to decide between Profar and Andrus and aren't considering Andrus at SS and Profar at 2B in a few years, then I would take Profar over Andrus and then subsequently shop Elvis. Profar has more "upside" right now. And unless he Engel Beltre's on everyone, he will be more of a 5 tool SS than a 4 tool like Elvis (Profar supposedly has power).
The prevailing thought has been Elvis @ SS and Profar @ 2nd. Profar actually has better range than Elvis. He also idolizes Andrus. And FYI - Elvis is not a free agent in 2013. He is arbitration eligible in 2012, and a free agent in 2015. We have team control for quite some time, Profar is a ways away. Maybe 2013 at best. Short answer is, no, you don't shop Elvis. Should not even be a thread on here or anywhere else.
What about Hurley, and there have been a couple of guys in AAA with decent average and slugging, though I'm still holding out on Minnesota giving us Thome
Brad Nelson is putting up big #'s. I don't know enough about him, but I will inquire. He is a big kid. Chad Tracy (AAA) and Mike Bianucci (AA) have put up good offensive numbers (HR & RBI), but according to correspondence I've had with Scott Lucas, they are both very poor fielders, and don't project to successful Major Leaguers. Butler is a good player.
Ricky, agree partially. Elvis is a FA after 2015 and the logical scenario is to dump Kinsler after 2012 to avoid his $10 million dollar option (assuming Profar is ready to be the new 2B). Kinsler will be 31 and will likely want an extension with his option. My feeling is that FO will decide that Elvis is worth giving a MY type of extension to keep him a Ranger forever and look to Profar as the 2B of the future. However, with Boras as an agent, there is no guarantee and FO will have to make a decision on the tandem of the future (Kinsler/Andrus or Andrus/Profar or Profar/Kinsler). Even though Andrus is a FA in 2015, the decision will be made after 2012 especially if Profar is on the Andrus timetable. 2012 could be a time to think about shopping Elvis (not likely) but the FO has to maximize the talent it has. That's not crazy to think about for 2012. Profar is more likley to be shopped than Elvis though.
Chris R. - There are two untouchables in this farm system. Perez and Profar. I highly doubt he'd get shopped. And Robbie Ross is on his way to jumping on that list as well.
Ricky - The word untouchable probably should be replaced with "High-value." No doubt any or all three of those guys would be traded in a heartbeat for a TORP such as Kershaw or King Felix. I think you could even see a guy like Haren as a potential SP worth one or more of those guys. Although, JD and Tony Reagins wouldn't make that deal in fear of the repercussions.
Don't get me wrong... I wasn't advocating a trade for Haren. Was relaying Jamey's scenario, which also didn't mean we'd trade for him, but just rather that he was going to be traded after this year. Perez is not too far away, and has all the potential to be a TORP eventually. AAA #'s are not so impressive, but he is young. Profar is very young, and likewise very good. We have a nice staff as it is, but a true Ace would be nice. All depends on the cost.
Leonys Martin, Scheppers, O'Day, German.
I doubt German. We have Gentry to pinch run. We have Blanco and Quinanilla as spare infielders. Pitching will be key. Perez? Hamburger or Justin Miller?
I would bring up the "high risk" guys.Give me Perez, Martin, Scheppers and as a goof :Majewski (I think we may get lucky on another "Chavez" )Also, give me an extra utility player who can play multiple positions.Go ahead and laugh, but you can give me somebody like Kata who is hitting better and better at AAA.... bet you he won't be much worse then Cantu or Cristian Guzman of last year...
Only one mention of Burger ?.....hmmmm Trust me, that is the right choice. The Rangers got this guy for a one month Rent-A-Player in Eddie G., nice choice.
I suggested him. I like Mark. He is transitioning nicely. He is a talented guy!
