What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
weaver got 6 games--he's an idiot. and if any of you think throwing at someone's head is okay-then you're an idiot.
Are aces rarer than diamonds? Well yes, diamonds really aren't all that rare. Its just that one company owns 90% of them and artificially inflates the price.
haha okay, so maybe that wasn't what you were asking. :)
you coulda gone with a deck of cards joke too.... bazing!
@P1 Stefen: My personal feelings aside, the bigger point of my post was that our FO wouldn't want him here after acting like that, and I'd bet if you asked them today how they'd feel about trading for him or whatever, they'd probably say "no" or at least "not right now" (purely hypothetically, of course), for reasons that other guys have already expounded on.
Also, as long as we're talking about that situation, I can't see how what Guillen did wasn't a jackass move, either, but I didn't see anything before that play so I dunno for sure. But I don't know if I'd want him here, either. I'm proud of my favorite team. So far I have no reason to think they're anything other than standup guys so far. And that's important to me. I don't like to root for a douchecan.

well.. we'll just have to agree to disagree... if this FO had a snowball's chance in hell of getting weaver, do you really think they would PASS because of the meltdown the other day? really???
surely I'm missing something here.
I dunno really. I'm just being melodramatic about a good pitcher, who's probably a role model for lots of young kids, doing something very un-classy.
I get the whole role model thing. But we're talking about guys who have been the best their whole lives and expect respect in this game. The shenanigans that Guillen did definitely deserved retribution. Maybe the head was a little much...but I'd take Weaver in a second. The dude is trained killer on the mound. Everyone in the league took notice...no matter how much of d-bag you think he is. If you show him up...he'll show you whats up.
Okay, and to be fair, Guillen probably deserved a pitch at his head, or something like that, for his crap. Shame Weaver couldn't wait around for him to bat again, so he could throw at him then. That, a lot of people wouldn't be quite as upset about. I think it's just that he took it out on the next batter is what bugs a lot of people, including me.
But yeah, realistically, I'd take the guy in a second. Unless he becomes a Milton Bradley or Manny or even A-Rod. One incident like this isn't enough to sour me on him, not by any means.
He should have drilled the next dude in the ribs, not thrown at his head. That way everytime he's nursing his sore ribs, he can be pissed at Guillen for being a tool. Think of Full Metal Jacket when Leonard is forced to eat donuts while everyone else does pushups. That's how you get a message across.
