What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
he has good plate discipline, spectacular defense, and a terrible swing. his proximity to the plate forces him to "uppercut" most pitches. he has the eye-hand coordination to become an offensive powerhouse, but he needs to make a minor adjustment.
If the most frustrating guy on the team is a guy putting up 4.7 WAR through 100 games while posting a .803 OPS and providing a very sorely needed .356 OBP at the top of a swing-happy line-up, while simultaneously playing true Gold Glove caliber defense at a premium middle infield position is - well then, I will GLADLY take that...
wingsofjoy is a serious troll of late - just looking for a reaction. He started the Napoli as leadoff guy thread...
i'm a troll because i don't think he's a great hitter? ok
I don't get the "terrible swing" thing. Like most people out there, I'm a layman. I don't have a kinesiology degree. I have not spent hundreds of hours studying scouting video of various mechanics. Are Ian's mechanics good? I don't know. How could I possibly know? What about his results? Caleb ran em down very well. They speak for themselves. If there is an expert out there, a serious coach or professional scout, who wants to make a case for adjustments Ian can make, okay, I'll listen, but in the meantime I'm just done self proclaimed swing doctors who hurl endless complaints at one of this teams best players. Done.
do the laws of physics not apply to baseball?
You must read Jamey Newberg. He carries on and on with this stupid argument as well.
Chavez, Beltre, Cruz, Gentry, and Moreland all have higher pop-up rates than Kinsler.
Kinsler has a .367 wOBA this year and a +4.7 WAR. That is an excellent season. The only people carrying on about how "frustrating" he has been this year are people who don't understand how the game works. People like Jamey Newberg.
first of all i'm Al Sharpton-ing the word "troll" its dead buried and never to be used again. yall have used and abused it to death. pour garrett shutters every time a work begins with a T and an R. its done dead gone. TI style.
2nd. Kinsler can be frustrating, but nobody frustrates the hell out of me more than either Feliz right now not getting his head on straight, Holland the bi-polar wonder kid, but the ultimate of all frustration for rangers fans is and alwasy will be Chris Davis.
I agree with Rangers100. Kinsler is one of the best players on the team right now, offensively and defensively.
he has the highest fly ball percentage on the team. it's true that players can't really control babip (players with excellent bat control can sometimes coax the ball in a general direction) but you can't seriously think that the most hitters can do is make contact.
DC - wow, didn't know you had the authora-TIE to remove internet slang from the face of the planet. Big ups. I'm all for replacing the word with another one because you are right - it is overused and mostly used incorrectly.
wingsofjoy - I can't tell when you are being serious or just trying to get a reaction; lately your thread topics seem to be of the latter.
Is it just me or does Kins get more strikes called out of the zone than anyone else in the league. It seems like at least once every other game he gets rung up on a pitch that's clearly out of the zone.
By the way his infield fly rate might be lower than those listed above but his overall Fly Ball rate is the highest on the team and his HR/FB is ahead of only Andrus and Young out of the starting lineup. Just sayin.
I find Torrealba more frustrating, but that might just be me.
I'll never understand you guys who criticize a top ten 2nd baseman in all of the MLB. It's like you want a gold glove power-hitter who can hit lead-off at the 2nd base position. Ooops. Ian is all of that. Why don't you complain about Arthur Rhoades or something of merit?
I also think part of the fan base being so frustrated with Kinsler (despite a solid season) is his reactions to everything. He could go 4-5, but on his only out he will slam the bat....I dont mind it......but I can see some fans taking that into account.
#bodylanguage fools another
doesnt fool me, just saying the general fanbase, or rather, the triple slash fanbase
I was actually supporting your statement. It was more directed to the creater of this bizarre yet oh so familiar thread. Nice FG article btw.
overreacting fans is the way to go. Of course, bodylanguage reveals more than any stats would. dahahahahahahaha
i think he's 0 for 15 right now
I don't understand why Kinsler has to live up to a higher standard than most other players.
When Kinsler plants his front foot it is almost always open or pointed toward the pitcher, instead of pointed toward the plate (squared). By opening his foot this way he would tend to cause some bat lag or dipping of his right shoulder, the result pop ups and fouling pitches down the middle off to right. When he does catch one it will go to left field, a lot of the times foul because his bat head would have caught up to his hands and his body is already open. Watch his next at bats and watch his front foot. It is a very difficult habit to fix.
i hold him to a higher standard because he's capable of hitting a lot better than he has this season.
