The cubs are apparently trying to trade Carlos Zambrano and and Alfonso Soriano and are willing to eat a huge portion of there contracts so why dont thr rangers take a chance and pick one or both of them up we could move big z into the bullpen as a key late inning guy and get alfonso soriano as another key outfielder who adds some pop and speed we could probably get rid of some of our unwanted salarys as well we could get Big Z and Alfonso Soriano for scott feldmen arthur rhodes and david murphy its sound great to me we dont give up any prospects and we add some solid players.

Interesting idea Rainman, since it's a very original idea I have no clue what it would take to get those guys. The 2 pitchers you mentioned are spares so I don't see them having much value to the Cubs and not sure Murphy really excites people as the best player in a deal. I have nothing to base this on, but I would guess there is a very low likelihood that the Cubs would give these guys away, pay a huge portion of their salary and essentially get 3 older (i.e. non-prospect) players back. Not to mention that I think Soriano is a huge downgrade defensively and Zambrano would be no better than guys we already have in the pen (or Scheppers). Lastly, even eating a huge portion of those guys salaries would still make them overpaid to Rangers. Those contracts are crazy big!

I think we're all just waiting for any move and maybe getting a little delirious/impatient here. Any move is not, repeat NOT, better than no move at all in some cases.

Cubs would have to take Feldman, throw in 75% of Zambrano's contract from here on out, and give us Byrd or a decent prospect.

Those contracts are awful, Soriano is one-dimensional, and Zambrano's fastball is barely averaging 90 mph. No way.

It'll take more than that for the King.... Zambrano sucks and has a piss-poor attitude, henceforth, no... Soriano got figured out four years ago (sliders in to off the plate) and won't make an adjustment.... So no.... Why not add Aramis Ramirez to the deal and have all the Rangers wear " Cubs' Beasts
Of Burden" on the back of their jerseys?.... While we're at it, I hear Vernon Wells, Chone Figgins, Pat Burrell, Carl Pavano, Jayson Werth, AJ Burnett, Denny Neagle, Mike Hampton, Chan Ho Park, and Joaquin Benoit are available as long as you pick up the salary...

I would rather trade for Adam Dunn than Soriano. We had that dog once and I hope to never see his goofy face in Arlington again.
