I read the rumor sites, and the only place I've ever heard Rasmus seriously being trade bait is here, from a guy or two who personally like Rasmus as a ballplayer. So I'd say it's not even a proper trade rumor, which are usually bullcrap - it's a level below that.

Ending a void of White Sox trade scuttlebutt, the Sox are reportedly discussing a deal with the St. Louis Cardinals, according to a story in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Looking to bolster their pitching staff, the Cardinals would be willing to part with talented center fielder Colby Rasmus for Edwin Jackson or Matt Thornton, and a prospect, according to the report. There is no indication, but it is presumed that the Cardinals would pick up the remainder of the contract on either Jackson or Thornton.

Yeah, that report Joey cited came out today. Before that, if you look through the Cardinals feed on mlbtraderumors.com, they have been adamant that Rasmus is not going to be traded.
