Forum > New Updates on Ubaldo Jimenez
And now this from Jon Heyman: with CarGo on dl now, you have to wonder if that affects ubaldo's chances to go. #rockies, #reds, #rangers, #redsox, #yanks

So Holland, Perez, Profar, Erlin?

Trading Holland, Profar, Perez and Erlin for that guy would be a catastrophe. That would be essentially undoing the Texeira deal, with other players obviously. Ubaldo is good, but he's not that good.
WWJDD?
Hey Scott Feldman is big league ready!

I badly want Ubaldo, but even I agree with this sentiment. Holland, plus two top-10 to -15 prospects, plus somebody with a good probability of evolving into a solid mid-rotation guy ... there's overpaying, and then there's criminally overpaying.

Harrison, Perez, Davis, Wieland, and some low level lottery ticket Victor Payano type player for Jimenez and Street
Taylor
@Taylor: Somehow I doubt they'd go for that.

Count me in as one that wants him, but is highly skeptical about why the rockies are trading him. call me paranoid but it makes me wonder if he's playing hurt or something's going on on the down low with him. This is a guy who had his best year ever last year and looked to be on a career upswing. now his velocity is down, his era is higher w-l total isnt even close to on track. just makes you wonder. could be a million things, but this guy was the 2nd best pitcher in the NL last year. granted maybe he just no longer has the stuff cuz he no longer desires to be in CO. maybe he sees them going nowhere. maybe he secretly asked to be traded. who knows.... i just tend to err on the side of caution when it comes to a deal of this magnitude.
I still say make a deal for Cueto. I'd like to say Cincy's out of it, but it was only a few days ago the Angels were 5 games behind.... Fun Fact, Today was the first day post ASB since like the early 80s when the AL and NL had a pitcher with an ERA below 2. Weaver and Cueto..... just sayin

Not enough, particularly when you throw Street into the mix.

Why just settle at Ceuto? get Hernandez, Sheilds and Gio Gonzalez too. Their teams are out of it. While their at it go and get Bautista too. Their out of it. you people are funny acting like teams will give away their best players for some prospects. As far as Jiminez goes, his road numbers are spectacular 9+ Ks/9, BA against of about .158 and a 2.88 ERA. Still though gutting your farm system for him when there are any questions seems kinda irresponsible...

Yeah, I wouldn't do Holland, Perez, Profar, Erlin either, but I suspect that is the type of package they are looking for. I don't think he is gonna go cheap, but who knows.

Per Jayson Stark:The price tag, according to an official of one club, was (and is) “three or four of your best young players — and one of them had better be a big league ready starter so he could go right in their rotation.” And The Rockies even went further than that, sending scouts to check out prospects of several interested teams and encouraging scouts from other clubs to come in and peruse Jimenez’s starts. So obviously, this fellow’s “availability” was no media fabrication.
