Forum > I think a trade that could be done in one phone call

I believe there is a trade that we could make right now that would prove divendends immediately. I think you could trade a decent prospect to the cubs for Marlon Byrd. I think defensively it would help and give you another good bat

If they are going to make a position player trade, they need to go big or go home. Get a Beltran level stick (which is only Beltran that I'm aware of), or stand pat and save your trade chips for a pitcher. Byrd would only be the most marginal of upgrades.

I know everyone will hate this idea, but I want to find some struggling veteran who's getting paid a ton, make the other team eat most of the salary, and trade B level prospects for... then hope and pray this player has one last hot streak in him.... Alex Rios or Juan Pierre fit the bill. Move Josh to CF, Pierre in left... I think LA is already eating a lot of his salary....

It's a low risk deal that won't deplete the farm... vs. say trading top prospects for Ubaldo and suddenly he gets thorasic outlet syndrome or whatever it is ever Ranger pitcher gets.

I say bring Obide Mcdowell or David Hulse back....

But Rios is having a terrible season, and Pierre can't steal bases anymore, and that's about 75% of his value. To me, no thanks on both those guys. If they're paying Martin $15 mil, he's gonna get a look as the CF next year. So if they are gonna bring a guy in, it'll need to be someone temporary. You could do a lot worse with Byrd on your bench for the playoffs.

What is the obsession with getting a Center fielder. Why waste the prospects when everyone knows first hand (SF Giants) that pitching is what put the Rangers over the hump. You have 8 guys you could fill out a lineup with that will hit 20+ bombs and we want another offensive player. Be serious.

I only count 7 so we need one more. Jk
Chavez is doing a great job in CF why waist a prospect on something you don't need. Rangers should on to their chips

@TexPantego: Let's see...first one that comes to mind...let's take Carlos Lee:

- Struggling veteran? Check
- Getting paid a ton? Check
- Has one last hot streak in him? Probably not, but he could surprise us

Hmm, let's see who else we could try...
