Forum > I feel as if....

I don't know about you guys but I have this feeling that a BIG trade is about to go down. And big name players are about to be moved.

July 13, 2011 at 8:55 PM | Unregistered CommenterThinking Positively

Does this feeling stem from a source?

July 13, 2011 at 9:29 PM | Unregistered CommenterJameson

It's obviously Johnny Cueto.

A trade is going to happen: Good News: Seems other clubs expect the Rangers to be "very, very aggressive" on the trade market again this year. SP the No. 1 target, then RP. That per Jason Churchill

This is like waiting for Xmas to open presents. Two weeks is sooo far away. Someone make the trade deadline get here faster.

I smell a big fat dud this year. And that's good because if something does happen, I'll be pleasantly surprised! Pessimism always pays off !

I'm hearing the Rangers are going to make two moves. First, they are looking at Scott Erickson. Next up, bringing back the big stick of Jorge Cantu.

Well, if we're gonna trade? I'd rather trade our youth for young, proven, talented, controllable young players versus rent-a-players. All the RAP's in question will be free agents next year. Get 'em then if you still want em w/o losing your youth. Young players will cost you some youth, but they will remain part of this system for several years to come via contractually controllable. Go with youth, i.e. Chacin, Clippard, etc. You trade for the right young players and this team will be every bit as competetive this year, than if you traded (wasted) good youth for a 90 day rental

Different topic, but... I really like Matt West. His transition from 3B to Pitcher has been impressive and might just have saved his career. His IP to SO ratio is good, with him pitching his 99 MPH fast ball iin relief. His 6 game suspension for the tussle with the Canadiens was up'd to 10. I couldn't find why, until now. Lucas says the Rangers added the additional 4 games. Sounds like he has the talent, but maturity is lacking... for now.

You know who wants young, proven, talented, controllable young players? Everyone. You know who trades them away? No one. You might see a guy with 1.5 years of control left, but that's about it.

Cheap players are the mother's milk of every franchise, and most GMs knows it.

Rest assured, if we trade, it will most likely be for a rent a player.

@djc -

And what do you think we will trade for them? Young, talented, controllable players...

But no body trades those.

Great observation.

We will trade prospects, not controllable current major leaguers. Some of those prospects may never be useful major leaguers, and hence their years of control are fairly meaningless.

seriously.... yall are makin my deal look good.

July 14, 2011 at 2:56 PM | Unregistered Commenterdcaggie06

You don't think Chris Davis is controllable young talent? Borbon? You have to look at teams like the Dodgers, who Gammons pointed out, might have to viable prospects in their system. They are going to suck with or without Kershaw, so why not let him go to add to your farm system depth with real talent? It is a win / win. Kershaw is young and good.
