I was thinking about that one, too. He's a free agent at the end of the season. I don't think he can play CF, though, and that's what you need - at least until they call up Martin.

OF aside, he could be a cheap, low-risk means of attaining a RH bench bat w/ playoff experience for the stretch run...

Not worth it to carry a guy who would be strictly a pinch hitter. Who would you leave off the playoff roster to have him on?

Sorry - should have clarified. If we did pick him up, I meant we would use him strictly as a PH for the September stretch run, and not necessarily in the playoffs.
I mentioned his playoff experience simply to illustrate that he has been through the grind of a stretch run/playoff-type atmosphere before.

Dodgers just DFA'd Marcus Thames as a part of the Juan Rivera deal...he's only hitting .197 and I don't know how many WAR he's be worth in night games after a day game in ballparks average attendence under 22K on discount hot dog nights, but he's been effective in the AL in the past and he likely could be had for next to nothing, so I think that might be something to consider. A RHB in the outfield could add a value if a change of scenery is what he needs to get it together.
