How does a manager not know if a player is a homerun from the cycle then to top it off his excuse is i thought his triple was a double. This is not the first time he has been so out of the game either. Management has to put there foot down some time is he just that stupid or is he just that stupid?

[Admin's note: The original thread topic was: "Ron Washington the most INCOMPETENT manager in the mlb!" I think you can understand why I changed it.]

LMAO.

This is a bit making fun of how overplayed that story was, right? Please?

I'm really tempted to delete this thread. Going forward, I probably will delete threads that are this stupid on sight.

Just a heads up.

Says an awful lot that Napoli was inserted as a late inning defensive replacement ... causing the Earth's magnetic poles to shift.

@WWJDD~
I think they're still trying to figure out the riddle of whether
a falling tree makes a sound, if no one is around. Too advanced?
Try thinking, "a rolling stone gathers no moss".
There's a lot of barking dogs in here lately.

If HubZ speaks in a forum, and only fools are there to hear him... is he still right?

Of course! HubZ usually is right. But even if he agrees with you, he will still try to make you think it was his idea and belittle you.

I accept who he is. Stick around buddy. You"re an asset on here. You always make me laugh, unless the cross-hairs are on my arse!

Sir Rick, Mules shouldn't graze the fields with a bulls-eye on ass, during hunting season.
Basically, we're all wide open to rebuttle, with what we declare. Opinions will always
vary. Words are tools... most times, less is more.

Taking a Hardline in Baseball, can be a fools jump. Even disected to the inth-degree,
Baseball is chock-full of variables. One can be an Einstein or Homer Simpson in a
moments quirk. A simple angle deflection of a mere infield stone, can change the most
important, biggest World Series game ever in Baseball... and has.

Again, I'm not here to be right. I've been the Jester many times. I've filtered my views
through time and will try even more, to keep an open mind. Adjusting to this Great Games
'dark matter' seems the best position. It may seem rocket science, but most times I like the
"knot hole view" as a Baseball Kid. I can enjoy Baseball for what it really is... the Ultimate
American Sporting Game. No need to slap me w/one hand, while shaking the other.

Now choose your pistol Sir. We'll each walk the twenty five steps forward, turn and fire
the missles & smoke... but the stance from both, you and I, will be the love of "the game".

You misunderstand me, sir. While it was a back-handed compliment, it was a compliment nonetheless.
I exhalt the greatness that is HubZ, and look forward to reading your post, as well as any debating we may do. Jab as we may, while I may take a funny "shot", I will never make it personal. Keep up the good work. I, for one, enjoy it. Thanks, HubZ!

Rick-
I never misunderstand you. Belittle, is an adjective, no? I jumped on Drew once
and that was incredibly insensitive. I can't apologize enough. We can talk Baseball,
but let's not shuffle or trade insults, disguised or otherwise. We're both smarter than
that. We'll agree to disagree some, but over all, I'm pretty much solid with most input.
Correct... nothing personal. Baseball has room for both of us & hopefully better for it.
Keep positive- grin & bear what's printed here most times. Age range varies, as with
opinions. Go Rangers - Go Homey!

July 6, 2011 at 12:36 PM | Unregistered CommenterHubZ

I fully concur my friend! The objective is to talk baseball, and that will remain our main point. And I will admit when a point is wrong, just as I did when I suggested Chad Tracy as an option at Catcher yesterday, since he was drafted a Catcher out of Pepperdine. Scott Lucas set me straight, and I crawfished. I think we could both be of more use educating others, rather than debating with others. I say that, and I just argued with Caleb over WAR. I detest that stat graph.

July 6, 2011 at 12:44 PM | Unregistered CommenterRicky in Fort Worth

WAR - Wins Against Replacement. The R= replacement, is suppose to be some
Very Average AAA Imaginary guy, right? Therefore my "Blowup Doll" quip. Again,
another barometer, but not real substance. I won't get into the variables, either.

Young, Beltre, Hamilton and Kinsler have all made big strides in there BA%, which
shows progress. Simple enough to calculate a trend. A 10 day spread says a lot,
for the Now. I don't need to over Amp on what was. Like Golf... the stroke is over.
Move forward in focus.

July 6, 2011 at 2:33 PM | Unregistered CommenterHubZ

Well then you see my issue with it. "Average" for example, is a true stat, a mathematical formula. WAR is an attempt at being a total value stat, which is an anomily. You notice Caleb didn't fall for my trick question of who had a better year last year, Jeter or Hanley Ramirez. It is clear Ramirez was better by far, but Jeter had a higher WAR ranking. It is a bogus stat to me. It has some merit, but in all, I take it with a grain of salt.

July 6, 2011 at 3:19 PM | Unregistered CommenterRicky in Fort Worth

Ricky -

As I have alluded to previously, I agree that all stats should be taken with a grain of salt, including WAR.

However, I must point out that you are incorrect, and in fact the very stat you decry as bogus actually corroborates your assessment!

According to FanGraphs:

Hanley Ramirez 2010 WAR: 4.6

Derek Jeter 2010 WAR: 2.8

Therefore, we are in agreement that Hanley clearly had a better overall season and thusly was more valuable to his team (in 2010) than was Jeter.

I guess the conclusion here is that there are multiple methods of arriving at the same conclusion and we very likely do ourselves a huge disservice in attempting to tout the "best method", as in the end they all have their (varying) merits.

Per Big League Stew: Its 7.6 to 7.4

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Everything-you-always-wanted-to-know-about-WAR?urn=mlb-211211

I just will never need or believe in a Grand Unified Stat. I don't need someone else's formula to arrive at a conclusion I can do myself, and more accurately. I use factual mathematics, rather than "blow-up dolls" (Thanks Hubz) as a fictional replacement per WAR.

You can use it all you want, but pkease don't do it in a debate with me, as it is theoretical, not factual, thus I will not acknowledge it as such.

You bring excellent stuff without it, bro.
