Forum > Dodgers Fielding Calls on Kershaw
Going back to the earlier post comparing what Seattle got for Lee vs. what Texas might have to give up for a guy like Kershaw - I think you're forgetting that part of the value of a player is cost as well as controllable years. Those two factors make Kershaw a much more valuable commodity, and thus LA should expect to get back more for him than Seattle got back for Lee.
Right?
WWJDD?
Ryan?...it is called education and a clue. WWJDDD? The Dodgers are in no place to deal. Common sense.

First off, the Commissioner's Office is not going to ALLOW the defamation or devaluing
of the Dodgers. There's going to be solid VALUE, for the new owners to purchase. Sorry.
no fire sales of LAD. Very sticky wicket and the Office has always taken a hard stance.
Does not mean there won't be a trade, but I'm doubting Kershaw would be one. I'd say if
any team would show light to the Commish, it would be the Rangers... Lil' X-Bankrupt Darli'n.
HubZ
Tell that to the Expos.

Tell that to the Expos? LAMO!!!
Is that suppose to be a Point of Comparison
or another void in your compulsive manner of
argument about "you know Baseball"... we're
all idiots?
HubZ
HubZ - All who know you? They know you're a pompous old fart. I like you, but history does not give you expertise. This game changes continually. Cuban said the Dodgers finances are a mess. I am sure they will remain in existence. But MLB has some control now. Maybe it is just past your bed-time pa-pa.
Or the game has past you by. I'll go with both.
Ricky in Fort Worth
Homer/Ricky, I like the both of you. Talking and answering yourself has it's privileges.
The consummate Baseball Guru... how could any argue such wisdom coming at all angles?
Mr. Personality(s)
HubZ
LOL Ricky - man you are touchy. What the F is going on around here with all you guys getting your panties in a wad and making Joey police everything with locked forums? Jeez.
But anyway, if you look at what I wrote, I was responding to someone else who was talking about the value of Kershaw vs. the value of Lee. It was theoretical, and my point was never to suggest that LA would trade Kershaw. Actually, if you consider the logic of my post, you would deduce that I think the most valuable commodity in baseball is players exactly like Kershaw - young, dominant, cheap, and controllable for many years. Funny you write "common sense" when it seems you aren't using it yourself.
No, you are exactly right - the Dodgers won't trade Kershaw - but that has absolutely nothing to do with their bankruptcy. They wouldn't trade him even if they were solvent. My point was simply to disagree with an earlier post - Kershaw in 2011 is worth more than Cliff Lee in 2010.
WWJDD?
@WWJDD~
Now that's Baseball talk. Good input.
Which is what this forum is about. One opinion, Sir Ricky,
is an island void of being in open mind. I like it in here and I'll certainly watch being
my old pompous self. Of course I take my knowledge from Family Guy episodes.
Rangers are going to get their TORP... Chris Davis will be a Ranger, as will M.Young.
Baseball~ Fun Game

I love you, HubZ!

Homey/Ricky~
I'm not really sure how to take that. You're such a volatile person.
Have you ever thought of taking up acting? You're quite the Barrymore.
All due respect though, I have learned much from your input, over the
years. Adjusted to web forum angst and have learned that celebrating
alone in triumph... is, well, lonely. It's much easier to turn away, than to
attack. I am sure that our verbal spars aren't at end. Which, I smile saying so.

I am also loosely connected to Kershaw. The guy would love to be here. Given the 40 man roster issues coming, a "trade the farm" type deal for Kershaw and Kemp would jump the rangers to possibly favorites and not be as painful as some might realize. Perez, Scheppers, Holland, Davis, Borbon, Erlin, Olt, and some amount of cash would be crazy, but not debilitating to the system. I'd make that trade and not look back. If Kershaw and Kemp are up for discussion, I can't help but think the Rangers will be in the center of it.
aggiecurt05
Do you want Kemp for Offense only? Kemp is certainly is not a good Centerfielder.
HubZ
In my mind, Kemp would be replacing Murphy- playing LF most of the time, while subbing in at CF occasionally for Hamilton. That's a HUGE upgrade (bonus- moves Chavez off the team). Plus, Kemp is insurance for the coming Hamilton/Cruz injury.
aggiecurt05
I say we offer up perez, ramirez, profar, olt, borbon, davis, holland and harrison for kershaw and kemp. Then turn around and sign cj. That would put us with a rotation that has Kershaw, Cj, Ogondo, Lewis, and either Hunter or sheppers or Feliz "if we can get a closer in the off season" who ever from the minors or free agents that you can find. If you can trade for a Ace you go for it and then play out everything else. If kemp is not offered in the deal then take davis and holland out of the package.
txcat11b
The way Elvis is playing in 2011, I really like the idea of keeping Profar. I think the Org views the same.
I don't think Davis is going anywhere. Perez, Ramirez & Olt are animals, waiting to be uncaged. Aren't
Olt & Neil on DL or hurt? Daniels will come up with a winning package and I, for one, won't look back.
Make the Team Better.

I don't understand why people are so sure that realignment is going to happen. This is the same league that's too scared to institute a decent instant replay policy because of the "human element".
