Forum > Is MY still in "trade me" mode?
My impression is that Michael and JD sat down and discussed that the real cause of the whole debacle was Chucky Greenberg.
I don't think they are suddenly friends but I think it all calmed down when "its him or me" Nolan settled things.
I think MY will absolutely not be traded this year. He might be traded during the off season if he decides to start in the field on a daily basis.

Couldn't disagree more. Sorry, but for whatever faults many on this board find with him, MY has been the single most consistent bat in the Rangers line-up in 2011. Take him out and the line-up will be more of a mess than it already is.

Moreland hasn't been sitting against lefties to make room for MY's bat, Murphy replaces him in the line up for whatever reason. Young had a slump there for a couple weeks, other than that he's been hitting all year. His contract and no trade clause would keep the returns to a minimum on any possible trade. there's really no good reason to trade him. And unless CD can learn to handle himself behind the plate he can keep tearing it up in AAA for all I care.

simple answer: no, he no longer is in trade me mode. him and JD are good and wash has kept his word about playing him in the field.
difficult answer: will he pull this $hit again if he's told he's not playing in the field. bottom line is him playing in the field is hurting this team. Wash knows it, nolan knows it, JD knows it, we know it, and the whole damn world knows it but MY. before the deadline wash needs to sit him down and basically tell him its over. youre a DH. i'm not playing you in the field. thats that. I'll keep to my word that you'll get your at bats. in small doses if smeone is hurt or needs a day off you will play the field but you are the DH. you dont have to worry about napoli, he wont DH, he'll strictly play 1st when needed and C. you'll get your ABs. you have two options and we need to know now. A. you accept this. or B. we need to know that youre not, and we're packaging you in a deal. you'll waive your no trade clause and thats the end of it. thats the way base ball go MY. accept your role and quit f***in up our team with your selfish need for self satisfaction. go rub one out. just quit attempting to take over our field. youre a liability and you cost us games the end.

His range is nothing to write home about, but Wash sitting him down and saying you're not playing in the field is not going to happen, nor is it necessary. Kinsler needs his days off from time to time. Beltre looks like he really needs one badly. Young is the best overall back up at either of their positions. And for a chunk of the season he was the best available first basemen against righties when Moreland was needed in the outfield. No team trots out the same line up for 162 games. Young has played 11 games at second and has made a few good plays. He doesn't have Kinsler's range, but he's done alright. He played one at third, and while he was no Beltre he played a better game than a lot of back up thirdbasemen. And the fact is that most teams have a player or two wearing gloves that they'd rather not have in the field. They've also got a player or two in the batting order that they'd just as soon not touch a bat. Blanco can play the field but is likely to hurt the team with his bat. A 25 man roster has some weak spots. That's the way baseball go.

which i said was fine. but the days of playing my in the field just to play MY in the field need to end. and fast.

Gee, you don't remember how bad Cano looked, during the last visit by the Rangers?

How can you decide if he is playing in the field just to play in the field? It's not as if he's Mike Piazza with absolutely no defensive value but hitting .237. When he plays the field somebody gets a half day off, usually the injury prone Kinsler or Hamilton. Any team is better off if their regulars can get some amount of rest and stay in the batting order rather than bringing a Blanco or a Jorge Cantu or somebody to the plate.

Trade Me Mode?
Maybe Hit the Ball "a la mode"... AL Player of the Week
Good for You, Mikey. grrrrr

"pull this shit again"?
LOL...
Whatever it is he's been pulling so far this season...and for that matter, the last decade, is just fine by me.
Pull T

Has he changed his mind? If not:
(A) His stock will never be higher
(B) CD is putting up monster #s
MY gone opens up the AB floodgates for a lot more Napoli/Moreland and CD. Moreland will never become a full-timer as long as he's forced iinto a platoon situation most of the vs. lefty games.
