What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
As HubZ previously stated in a previous forum June/July is a period of speculation for many things. I'm always curious as to peoples different opinions; so I wanna know who in your eyes on this team is Untouchable regarding the trade deadline. In fact if you want categorize players into 3 categories: Untouchable, Maybe for the Right Price, and Trade Fodder. It should be interesting to see some people's differentiating views especially regarding some players such as Kinsler, Cruz, Hambone, CJ etc. Like i said, this isnt homework you dont have to breakdown the whole team just the highlights
Untouchable: Ogando, Andrus, Hambone, Moreland, Feliz, Beltre, Perez, Ramirez, Martin, Hunter
For the right price: Cruz, Kinsler, CJ-mainly cuz i dont think he's coming back next year, Holland, Scheppers, Gentry, Erlin
Trade Fodder: Borbon, Murphy, Rhodes, Chavez(value prob wont get higher than now), Teagarden, Davis, Engel Beltre, MY-i'll take the hit by having to meet somewhere in btw on the cash, i think he's become a plague on the clubhouse <-- i'll probably get crucified on this one
Hunter as untouchable? ...umm am I missing something. The only untouchables I have are Hambone, Andrus, Nefti, Ogando and Adrian Beltre...with Moreland barely missing the list but I could go either way with him to be honest.
If I could get JJ from the Marlins I would be more than willing to give them say Kinsler, Hunter, Perez, Borbon and Sardinas.
San Fran may be a good trade partner right now with there holes at 2nd and catcher as well.
Breaking up the "core" or a team disassemble, for a gain in pitching, is a shaky risk. You have to remember HOW they became Champs. Being tight, close & resilient. The starters are what they are. Borbon, Murphy and even Torrealba are replaceable. We've learned the status of Moreland, in the past. He's only getting better, but so is Davis. With Wash's stalwart wall in Kinsler as lead off... he's going nowhere, nor should he, withhis great defensive play in 2011. The Team is riding a bumpy road, but with pitching, shouldride it out and into the playoffs. Pitching is Key. Which arm(s) stays/goes, if traded for Ace?I could see Murphy go for a reliever. Same for Torrealba or Borbon. I don't think an ACE isgoing to big fodder, just a contract blow out, with maybe 1-3 players involved toto. I'mbetting a dollar to a doughnut, JD has already been approached and has sent flyer's out also.
Like i said, the sole purpose of me posting is its fun to see who some ppl would have as untouchable. but to explain i have Hunter as untouchable for this year only. I think he's a better pitcher currently (although injured) than Holland or Harrison. I think Holland has higher potential and better stuff when he's on, i just question if he's ever going to fulfill his promise. However over the past two seasons Hunter has proved that when he pitches this team wins. He may not see the field this year pretty much nulling this argument period. but for now he's a guy i want to remain on the team. He's not alot of guys favorite... but to me he's very much in that Bobby Witt type category minus the strikeout abilities. both guys brought there best every game, both guys kept their teams in the game, and both guys were just as capable of having success as they were of failing. As of right now i wanna keep him. But this is my list not yours :)... however notice he was last on my list lol
please dont misunderstand me. by no means am i even suggesting "blowing" this team up. we might be struggling, but we're still in first place. this is more just a study on different posters value on certain players. i would by no means be a proponent of trading EVERYONE on my trade fodder list, its simply the ppl i'm more willing to part with. yeah, god no... you gotta stay the course, but if an opportunity presents itself to improve the team, its nice to know where you value each player.
I’ll take up your gauntlet DC.
My untouchables would be Hamilton, Cruz, Holland, Perez, Feliz, Andrus, and Beltre.Hamilton more than any other player makes this team better! Cruz is force at the plate who provides protection throughout the lineup while being a solid defender. I still believe Holland will blossom into the TORP everyone believed he could become several years ago. He’s not even 25 yet and already has tremendous experience in both the pen and rotation and a shutdown effort for most of the playoffs last year that will continue to serve him throughout his career. Perez has potential that would you would be crazy to sell. Andrus is electric and makes this defense click. If Andrus makes the defense click Beltre allows it to excel.
For the right price: Young (I don’t think he’s a plague or even a common cold in the club house but he shouldn’t be untouchable), Kinsler, Moreland, Torrealba, Lewis, Hunter, Feldman, Kirkman, Napoli, O’Day, Ogando, Harrison, Profar, L. Martin
Trade Fodder: Rhodes, Oliver, Murphy (this one hurts), Davis (as does this one), Teagarden, Borbon and virtually anyone in the minors not named Perez, Profar or L.Martin.
I understand DC. It's a curious Poker Game. We're starting to see the front end of white towels being thrown in, with consideration to budgets & future. We're not the only buyers either, but we do have more draw cards to work with. Daniels is dealing from strength, as usual. JD only has to watch how he salivates, while holding player cards to vest. Owners have his back, with money. We're blowing out the "Gate" with tremendous fan support. TheClub won't let us down. "It's Time... once again". Just like Mavs getting closure with Heat.
I got excited, when I knew the Cavalry or Hamvp & Cruz were returning, but this scenario should be mega help and a HUGE surprise. It's not only going to be immediate, but strength for the future 2012+. Seriously, something might happen before the end of the month. Relief Arm(s)? 2 games UP, is not in comfort mode. It's really time to stretch it out. That's going to take New Cavalry~ The real, new found commitment of The Express Club to Ranger Fans.Time to Deal, Jon Daniels.
Meh - I don't see anyone on this team or in the minors who is absolutely untouchable = but a lot of that really depends on what you would be getting back in return. The closest TX has to absolutely untouchable would have to be Elvis, Feliz, Ogando, and Martin - but even there, I'd trade any of those guys for the right deal.
