Forum > More likely to return to the Championships....
As a Rangers fan since 95, I think the Mavs will return to a championship first. I love my rangers, but baseball is a tougher sport with more injuries to deal with. IMO the rangers pick up a reliever and maybe a veteran starter for depth. The rangers will reach the playoffs, but anything past that is up in the air. As for the Mavs, (assuming there is no lockout), you can expect another playoff year for them. Hopefully they resign JJB and Chandler, and Caron Butler if possible. With 2 picks in the upcoming draft, the mavs will get younger, and Roddy B will be returning from his injuries to hopefully develop into a great pg. Hell, maybe the mavs can even trade for Deron Williams of CP3. With all that said, I sure hope the Rangers can make it back to the World Series. But i see the Mavs making it back

A lot of questions remain for the Spurs and Lakers as well. I just see the Mavs as having the best shot to the finals. But don't get me wrong, anything is possible.

I'm happy for all you guys who love the Mavs, but I couldn't care less about NBA basketball in general, so the whole thing was a big nothing for me.
Don't know what there is to talk about with Texas, to be honest. They need some pitching help, they need to be more consistent, and they need to get back to playing good D. I don't expect things to go well for them in NYY, but one thing you can say for them, they do often get up for the big games. Here's hoping they can pummel big CC tonight.
WWJDD?
i'm going WAAAAYYYY out on a limb here (but yall know thats my style) and i say rangers will sweep the yankees this series. prob not gonna happen but sometimes you gotta call a shot.
Its very difficult to say who will go first Rangers or Mavs, but i agree with Garrett, its a hell of a lot harder in baseball to make the playoffs much less create a back to back successful run.
Mavs success depends on the new CBA. if theres a lockout I think kidd retires and we need a PG. in this instance i actually think we'll acquire Deron Williams. He's already pretty much stated he wont stay in NJ, he has no desire to go to NY and surprisingly wants to come back to TX. SA extended Parker so theyre out leaving Dal and Hou... i think he comes home. just my opinion. Also i'm hearing a couple of rumors: 1. CBA related, they might try to put a stipulation on the account of parity to destroy these super teams. even going as far as voiding LBJ, Bosh, and Wade's contracts if approved. Granted i truly dont see the player's union approving this however you get enough of the other players who want a shot at a championship and know they wont unless youre part of a super team... it could pass.
2. I'm hearing Rumblings that the Lakers are looking to do a sign and trade involving Gasol, Bynum, Odom, and others for Dwight Howard or CP3. Then they'll out right sign the other depending on cap room. Again... parity ruined with a possibility there of the Mavs not making the finals for a while, and several years of Lakers vs Miami/Chicago/NY(if they get a decent PG and coach)
As far as the future of the Rangers are concerned i think alot depends on if we resign CJ. i'll be that guy. as of right now, i've seen only a few tiny glimpses hear and there, and absolutely little desire from feliz regarding starting. i seriously doubt his capability as a starter due to his recent struggles. i seriously hope i'm wrong and he turns it all around and is a nice complement to Ogando. This not being an insult (actually the exact opposite) as good as Ogando's been... he's got nowhere to go but up. Its amazing what he's doing right now especially considering he only has 2-2.5 pitches. He'll keep working and will develop more pitches and be even more of a weapon than he already is. Add Ramirez and Perez into the mix, hopefully CJ and maybe Colby gets consistent and we resign him short term. Maybe at some point we sign a FA stud or trade for one. Besides the BP (which is improving) the future of our pitchers is looking good.
Regarding hitting, it depends on how any hambone contract situation plays out. the further development of elvis (who's really really looking good lately), We need a Catcher and a CF, and i'd like to see some more consistency from Cruz, and honestly would like to see MY just go away for a real DH. you never know.
So i guess in all this incessant rambling i guess its left to too many variables and comes out a wash.
i'll pick Cowboys win a superbowl first. there.

Wow, Dc you are going out on a limb lol............ I just don't know what the years ahead look like for the Rangers to be honest... I mean hopefully all of our top prospects pan out just fine down the road. But, if this team loses C.J. to free agency, i have no clue what we are going to do in the years to come. Maybe we do end up trading for a TORP or sign a key free agent... But i do agree about the Cowboys winning a superbowl here within a couple of years, hopefully they can put it all together and finally do it.

Another thing: As many of you on here don't care about basketball or aren't Maverick fans, I am still hung up that the Mavericks are world champions and right now I'm just not into the Rangers for the time being. If the Rangers end up losing in the playoffs or missing out, I wont be as angered because of the pride that i have of the Mavericks winning.

Same Plane... same Level.
Both Teams weren't suppose to Win Championships
They DID.
The Talent is there... find the heart, for repeat.
It's somewhere upwards, caught in the throat area.

Yep, but for the Rangers i hope its in their hearts and settle for more than just being in the World Series

I've noticed a serious lack of activity lately... Mavs hangover i guess lol.
So as of right now, or near future if you have any hinting of possible trades/FA pickups etc, who returns to the Finals/World Series first, Rangers or Mavs, and why?
