by "Rest" i hope you mean NEVER play in the field again

Sure, or maybe it's not so much that DHing was allowing him to hit well, and now he's just tired and in a slump, so much as he's a .280 hitter at this point in his career, he was hot early, and is reverting to the mean. But, yeah, the offense is basically healthy, so get him on the bench a whole bunch. That I agree with.
Scooby Dude
You really have a Face problem Scooby. Have you thought about seeing a shrink about your Michael Young rage?
I know you are still sore that Michael Young didn't get traded, AND that the whole debacle turned out being Chucky's screw up (got fired by "its him or me" Nolan for it too!) instead of a function of JD's desire to offload him. If you really are a Rangers fan try not to hate on our players please.
I know it sucks to lose but you need to be able to do it with class.

Well I don't consider myself anti Young (unless we're talking about age) but I concur that he needs to sit out two or three days. Right now he's a double play machine and I'm certainly not referring to his defense. Yesterday he missed two balls down the first base line that I'm pretty sure Mitch would have snagged and he's been hitting into double plays somewhat regularly.

I'm glad to hear MY is going to get a couple of days off here only because I think rest will only give him that illusive edge so he can start getting those 3 hit games again. Not that he didn't get one tonight of course.

When Young exploded at the beginning of the year I think a lot of people were vindicated, those that were saying the absence of the physical and mental stress of playing the field (especially the hot corner for a natural 2nd baseman) would cause him to improve offensively.
Now Young is in a slump. And that happens to anyone, no doubt, no doubt.
My thoughts turn to Guerrero's unbelievable 2010 start, and his subsequent slow wearing down throughout the rest of the year. Guerrero needed rest. Young needs rest.
Playing everyday wears an older player down, even when they are only hitting at DH most of the time.
We have already seen how Wash has rested Andrus and rightly so. We might assume that Andrus needs more rest because of his hard play or because he runs so much at short stop, and that definitely factors in. But consider the age difference between Andrus (20?) and Young (34). Young is getting up there in age and the sabermetricians are wont to point out how at the age of 33 or 34 you typically see a significant decrease in production. I would like to suggest that perhaps this decrease is not as much due to getting older as much as it is due to older players still getting playing time as if they were in there 20's. Everyone knows what Michael Young can do, he is a hitter. But baseball is about having an edge, and in the absence of amazing talent (ie Hamilton) physical and mental freshness is essential to keeping that edge. I got a minor in philosophy and that which is essential to a thing is that which the thing (ie MY hitting according to his ability) cannot exist without. If you take away physical and mental freshness you slump, and when you are an older player you slump long and hard.
Rest Young like Andrus has rested so far this year and watch him shine. I believe we are already seeing the benefits of resting Andrus, his hitting is improving and he is not wearing down.
